COMMUNITY SERVICE
Our club's dedication to making a measurable impact in the community has been evident through several successful events and initiatives. A highlight was our support for the Child Youth Advocacy Centre. Following last year's cancellation of our annual Lobsterfest dinner, we redirected our efforts towards a meaningful cause, presenting a cheque for $4,900 from the event's auction proceeds to the Centre. This contribution underscores our commitment to supporting vital community resources. Additionally, members had the opportunity to tour the newly completed facility at the Chinook Assault Centre offices, reaffirming the importance of our continued support.
Our engagement with the Chinook Sexual Assault Center, particularly the Child Advocacy Centre, remains a focal point. This facility is in need of ongoing financial support, and our recent contributions reflect our club's dedication to assisting organizations that make a significant difference in the lives of those they serve.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) in Lethbridge has reached out for assistance, seeking seed money to support their efforts toward independence.
Additionally, Adaptable Outdoors, a registered charity, has approached us with a request for funding support to cover half the cost of a canoe, aimed at enhancing their outdoor programs.
ROTARY FOUNDATION
It’s been observed that our club’s current contributions, have room for growth to meet our ambitious goals. To inspire and educate us on maximizing our impact, you can look forward to a special session at an upcoming Monday meeting. The focus will be on "How can your money work for the foundation?", a theme poised to shed light on the vital role each contribution plays in our mission. Our club's average per-member contribution actually exceeds the district's, which is a testament to the incredible generosity and dedication that defines our community. We are creating a learning opportunity to celebrate our achievements, and explore how we can continue to make a meaningful difference - let's look forward to gaining valuable insights and further strengthening our commitment to our causes.
INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS
Our club has established a new contact in Uganda, marking a step forward in our global outreach and project capabilities. This new connection opens up fresh avenues for collaboration and support, further extending our impact on international communities.
MEMBERSHIP-CLUB SERVICE
There has been a significant level of activity within the Membership Club Service recently, and we have welcomed several new members since January 2024. Strategies are being considered to engage and support these members to foster a more inclusive and active community.
YOUTH PROGRAMS
In our ever-growing commitment to youth engagement, we’re thrilled that we've welcomed a new young participant and celebrated the return of another student to our Rotary exchange family. This exciting growth brings to light a significant opportunity for our members – the chance to become a host family.
As we look to support these bright young minds, the need for three to four new host families has become increasingly apparent. Hosting is not just about providing a roof; it’s about opening your heart and home to a young individual, offering them a nurturing environment that can profoundly impact their lives and yours.

Becoming a host family is an integral part of Rotary’s mission, creating a lasting bond and making a tangible difference in the world, one student at a time. BOARD ELECTIONS UPDATE
The board elections have been completed. We will update Club Runner to reflect the information of the incoming board members, ensuring our records are current and accurate.
VIRTUAL MEETINGS
The club has decided to discontinue our Zoom account for meetings and utilizing Microsoft Teams for future virtual engagements. However, following a detailed discussion and a straw vote held by the Board, it was concluded that the club will not continue with virtual attendance at this time. Further considerations on this matter may be put to a full club vote.
