There will be choice goodies for kids under 12 and family gifts of freezers or grocery store gift cards.

Community Impact Highlights:
A heartwarming moment occurred at the Soup Kitchen on Nov 30, where cheque presentations for an approved ice maker and oven donation took place, with the intent to share these impactful moments on social media.

Royal Lepage Poker Fundraiser:
Save the date for the Royal Lepage Poker Fundraiser on Dec 12 at the casino, a collaborative effort by Brent Olesky and Todd, aiming to raise $1,500-$2,000 for our Rotary Club.

As we reflect on past successes, we look forward to continued community engagement and positive impact in the upcoming events.

ROTARY FOUNDATION
As we reflect on November, we celebrate Foundation Month, a dedicated time to acknowledge the impactful efforts of the Rotary Foundation. Our recent Honkers Fellowship event was a remarkable success, with approximately 100 attendees contributing both their time and resources. A generous $1,000 donation was made to the local food bank, showcasing our commitment to community service. Moreover, the silent auction held during the event raised an impressive $5,680 for the Rotary Foundation, underscoring the collective power of our philanthropic endeavours. A special commendation goes to David Agema for orchestrating this positive and engaging event. Additionally, the musical talents of Sam's band added a memorable touch to the occasion. As we celebrate these accomplishments, let's remain cognizant of the broader impact our donations can make globally. Learn more about the Rotary Foundation and the profound importance of our contributions at Rotary Foundation and consider making a direct impact by contributing at Donate to Rotary Foundation. Your continued support empowers us to drive positive change both locally and globally.

The Costa Rica Fire Project has successfully secured the necessary funds, marking a significant milestone. While awaiting further details, we eagerly anticipate the positive impact of our support. Moving on, the Nepal Dental Project has received district grant approval, positioning us for action in the early winter pending the awaited funds. Looking ahead, we're in the early stages of exploring a Costa Rica water project, estimating a need for $14,000 from our club funds. To propel these initiatives forward.

FUNDRAISING
Our Black Tie Gala, adorned with sophistication and elegance, found attendees delighted with a Champagne Reception, an exciting Live Auction, a delicious meal, and an entire Bond-themed evening with themed music by the symphony. The resounding success has led us to set our sights on Broadway for next year's extravaganza, scheduled for September 28, 2024.

Catch the Ace Lottery (Feb/Mar 2024):

We are in the process of securing licenses and contracts with Ascend, and looking at a funding strategy of child poverty, or local food banks.

Lobsterfest (May 2024):

Leadership Needed! We're on the lookout for a dynamic chair and committee to steer this maritime delight. Consideration is underway for a return to the Exhibition grounds.

Ribfest (Canada Day week):

Scott Corbett and Keith Dykslag are at the helm, overseeing the sizzling 50/50 portion of this mouthwatering event.

Black Tie Gala goes Broadway (Sept 28th, 2024):

We're actively seeking a chair and committee to make our 2024 Broadway Gala as stellar as its predecessor. The 2023 Gala Committee is extending its hand to sponsors for invaluable support.

In the spirit of Rotary, let's rally together to make these events unforgettable while continuing our noble cause. Your participation, support, and dedication are the keystones of our success. Together, let's elevate our impact and leave an indelible mark on the community we serve.

YOUTH PROGRAMS
Our Host Families initiative is thriving, and we're busy identifying candidates for the Youth Meeting and exploring a half-day event for Rotaract, Interact, Indigenous, and Ukrainian youth.

In EarlyAct, we're considering a shift to the Chinook Club with collaborative opportunities with Donna Boisvert and Joyce Fairbairn.

Our overarching goals include building Interact, fortifying Rotaract, and launching an EarlyAct chapter in our Club. Thank you for your continued support in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

Allan and Carola Friesen - Black Tie Gala 2023
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: ALLAN FRIESEN
Making Every Day Count!

Morning Rituals for Mind and Body Wellness
The day begins early for Allan Friesen at 5:45 AM, setting the tone for a purposeful day. A routine of kundalini exercises, yoga, stretching, and meditation is complemented by the use of a PEMF mat and an infrared blanket for 20 minutes of rejuvenation. Following this, Allan prepares a nourishing breakfast of steel-cut oats with apples, blueberries, banana, chia seeds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseed, sharing the morning ritual with his partner, Carola. The day's professional engagements typically commence by 9 AM, whether seeing clients or heading to the office.

A Life of Contribution: Improving Health & Wellness for 10,000 Individuals
In Allan's words, he has never been more optimistic about the impact he can make. With a dedicated team, he envisions the rest of his life as the zenith of contribution. Their goal is ambitious yet inspiring: to enhance the health, wellness, hope, and happiness of 10,000 unique individuals. This mission is driven by the Caring Employers Healthy Teams Collaborative, aiming to assist employer clients in saving on employee benefits, obtaining better coverage, and achieving rate stability. Beyond financial considerations, the team actively contributes to the health and wellness of employees and their families, providing access to essential health resources through programs like CEHT or other government initiatives. Moreover, a commendable 20% of gross revenue is committed to a Bridges of Hope fund, ensuring community members stay fed and safe. It's a collective effort where clients, Allan's team, and insurance partners join hands in creating a legacy of health and wellness.

Rotary Roots: Inspired by Clint Dunford
Allan's journey with Rotary began with the introduction by Clint Dunford. Impressed by Clint's caring and inspiring nature, Allan agreed to become a member at his very first meeting. Clint served as a role model, leaving an indelible mark on Allan's Rotary experience.

Guiding Principles: The 4-Way Test
The Rotary 4-Way Test holds a special place in Allan's heart, serving as an amazing guide for a life dedicated to service beyond self. Inspired by Clint Dunford, the 4-Way Test becomes a compass, especially when addressing challenges within the club and the community.

Ukrainian Support: A Source of Joy and Resilience
Allan expresses the joy and reinvigoration found in supporting Ukrainian families. Despite facing challenges, these new Canadians exhibit a spirit and determination to contribute positively to their new homeland. Allan takes pride in being a small but impactful part of their journey.

Hope and Optimism: Creating a Better Life Together
Working with individuals committed to creating a better life for themselves and their community brings hope and optimism to Allan. Their resilience becomes a driving force in the shared pursuit of a brighter future.

Rotary Wisdom: "Do it"
Asked about joining Rotary, Allan's advice is simple but powerful: "Do it." He attributes becoming a better human being to his association with amazing Rotary colleagues, describing them as "blackbelts at Do-Goodery."

Joyful Pursuits Beyond Rotary: Singing and Shooting Sports
For Allan, joy is found in the healing and fun aspects of singing. He sings not only for the art but for the profound feelings it evokes in his body and soul. Additionally, he finds enjoyment in shooting sports, rounding out his leisure pursuits.

In Conclusion: A Life Well-Lived in Service and Joy
Allan Friesen's life is a testament to purpose, contribution, and joy. From the early morning rituals that set a positive tone to his impactful work with Rotary and the community, Allan exemplifies a life well-lived. His journey is an inspiration for all, a reminder that every day presents an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the world.
