Aziz Memon - An incoming Rotary Foundation Trustee and Chair of Rotary's Country Polio Plus Committee in Pakistan will talk about the situation and challenges of eradicating Polio in his Country.
Our first "Connect" meeting was held Monday at 12 noon (replacing Facebook Live) with the above 11 (plus Jim Christie) participating. It was great to catch up with everyone in this relaxed interactive format.

"Connect" Gatherings replace Facebook Live
Please be aware that the bi-monthly Facebook Live announcements have been changed to "Connect" meetings to allow members to provide a personal update and catch up with others on the call. Next "Connect" meeting is June 1 at 12 noon.

Great News - This week our Costa Rica Water Project (District and TRFC approvals) and our Nepal Hospital Project (District approval) were collectively awarded $68,500 USD. Another layer or two of applications to get to the targeted $234,000 USD. Good work everyone!

  • Polio eradication is Rotary's only worldwide service project.
  • The campaign has been ongoing for 30+ years.
  • The costs have been $16 billion. Rotary's contribution $1.9 billion
  • In 1988 there were 350,000 cases per year in the world
  • YTD 2020 has seen only 59 wild polio cases in just two countries Afghanistan (12) and Pakistan (37)
  • W.H.O. leads the campaign with Rotary, The Gates Foundation, CDC, UNICEF and many sovereign nations including Canada at $600 million
  • Over the years the members of this club have donated $507,000 to the Rotary Foundation including contributions to Polio.
