G’day fellow GMR members.
Hurry up and get your ticket for our Changeover Dinner to be held on Saturday 8th July. Just to see Past
President Ray Smith as MC, makes it great value for money. Tickets are $50 per person and can be
purchased via EFT or square at our meetings. If you missed out on an invitation, please let me or Secretary
Tony know and we will get one or more to you.
The latest news on our trivia team is that we came equal 3rd with the Conquiztadors last week. Our team
consists of Tony and Leanne, Phil and Yvonne, Ray and Donna, Skye and Michael (and Junior Sear’s for a short time) and Jeremy; whilst I completed with the Conquiztadors to make things fair for all concerned. There is still
plenty of room for more team members so, if you would like to enjoy a night trivia and laughter come along
at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.
Don’t forget Bob’s defibrillator project with the Village Green Hotel having available to the public a
defibrillator 24/7. A fun(d)raiser is planned for Thursday 6th July. Tickets will be $55 per head with $20
going towards our program. Tickets can be purchased at the Crown Hotel. Yes, that’s correct, the Crown.

 

The Book Sale team lead by Past District Governor Peter Robinson held their second book sale for the year.
Peter tells me that it was the best book sale that we have held since we started them in 2013, netting
$2,088 after costs. Congratulations everyone involved. It just goes to show that when we work together,
with the Rotary 4 way test in our thoughts, we can achieve great things.

 

Since the last bulletin, we have manned the Changing Lanes BBQ, where Tony, Leanne, Camellia and Bill
produced and served some of the finest BBQ cuisine that could be found on the night. This was
acknowledged by the community donating over $160 on the night. What a great community to be a part
of!

Lelia held a stoma kit workshop conducted by Jane Loxton. This was attended by David, Leila, Don, Tony,
Leanne, Mary Fitzpatrick, Patty & I. Where we were able to be instructed on assembling the kits to be used in Papua New Guinea. With leftover items going to another stoma kit project in the Phillipines.

 

The next day, Sunday 18th June, Robert, Gerelle, Avron and I attended the District Changeover at Ballina,
where DG Dave Harmon and his team were installed. Dave, Robin their 2 son’s, and all the incoming AG’s
sang to the captive audience, sorry, I mean enthusiastic attendees. When I saw AG Robert on stage, I
thought for a second that it was Peter Garrett letting his hair down. Well done singers!. DG Dave and his
team come with great ideas, huge enthusiasm and tremendous skills. I am certain that we will be in great
hands this coming year.

The same day saw many of our members attend the Friends of Grafton Gallery (FoGG) winter solstice Soup
Day, where, whilst they missed Robert’s singing, they more than made up for it with the 8 wonderful soups,
great company and perfect weather. Don Cardow tells me that he tried all 8. He appeared much happier
than Judy did about that fact.

This is my last bulletin as President Elect and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the
guidance and support that you have given me during this past year. Each of you have made me a better
person than I was a year ago. And I know, that by simply being our best selves, we will improve the lives of
others.
