Well, a warm welcome to Spring 2020! Winter has come and gone again, with very mild winter weather experienced. Just like our blooming spring flowers, Grafton Midday Rotary (GMR) continues to bloom in our community, with many of our members coming out of “hibernation” to our return of regular Wednesday lunch meetings this week at Roches. During these very unusual times being experienced, it proves a challenge for us in our everyday lives, however as Rotarians we adapt and move forward.
Battling through the restrictions of COVID, our GMR team have been working in the background with a number of projects in our community that will not only benefit our wonderful Clarence community, but also continues to bolster our footprint of doing good in our community.
Our Projects include but not limited to:
- Assistance with the 1st 2000 days project lead by Richard, Bob & Alba on Friday this week
- Progress of the additional three Defibrillators for our broader Grafton community
- Progress of the 2021 Polio Movie event “I am a Woman” – To screen at the Saraton later in October
- Our District Grant for furniture for the new park area between the bridges is in the final stages of approval by RI – A great joint project with Grafton Rotary
- Acceptance of Charlize Girdler for the National Science Forum in Canberra
- Birthing kits
- Dougherty Villa Visits
- PCYC Involvement
Our board meeting on Thursday night was very productive, and amongst many items the board approved our 20/21 Club fees to be $260 for the year. Invoices will go out in the next few weeks, however if you wish to pay by EFT before your invoice arrives you are more than welcome to. The optional $100 Every Year Every Rotarian is also able to be paid which is totally voluntary. Thank you to our board members for their valuable time & efforts.
The board had an extremely dynamic Zoom meeting with DG Andy & DG Assistant Anne recently. We covered many topics with Andy and we particularly wanted him to take us through the issue of Corporate membership which he did with many ideas coming from it. We will move through this area to ensure that our club remains an adaptive club & continues to be attractive to our current & future membership.
Jenny & Lee have been very busy organising our much needed Social gathering at Roches this Friday night coming, which unfortunately Gerelle & I are an apology as we are on our NSW Road Trip! With the help of Mick Campion (Roches) you will enjoy some great wines from the Taylors selections, however if you don’t drink wine, you may enjoy a cold beer, soft drink or water, and most of all enjoy the friendship & companionship.
In my absence, our super vibrant Vice President Lee will take over the “reigns” of our dynamic club & lead you all over the next two weeks while we are experiencing some great NSW locations including Forster, Mudgee Wine region, Bathurst, Orange, Parkes & Dubbo.
