Hi everyone,
I hope you had an enjoyable week & weekend.

This week’s meeting we enjoyed a great summarisation by Herman of our social drive day along the Old Glen Innes Road with stops including Dalmorton & Buccarumbi. Herman & Debbie were chauffeured on the trip by what was referred to by Herman as the old Bushman driver Don Cardow, a very good driver on this type of roads. From what I hear is that all participants had a very enjoyable day and are looking forward to the next outing organised by Richard & Don. On behalf of all the participating members & friends of Rotary we thank Richard & Don and appreciate your hard efforts in organising this trip.

Keep the Friday 18th June in your diary for our annual changeover dinner with more information to come in the next few weeks once finalised.

This Saturday is a Birthing Kit workshop at David & Leila’s home starting around 2pm, so please come along if you can to assist. If you are able to assist the Grafton to Inverell cycle trip setup and like early starts, could you let Lee know if you can assist at 5am also on Saturday morning this week as a volunteer.

We had a very productive board meeting on Thursday night where we discussed many items for our club and our members. As we have a guest speaker this week we may not have time to give an overview of the outcomes of the board meeting, but will at the next available meeting where we have the time. Thank you to the board members for your time on Thursday night as your input is invaluable for the successful running of our club, a lot was achieved.

This Wednesday lunch we have a guest speaker from the First 2000 Days, Project Manager Leonie Staples. You may recall that some of our members help setup the new facilities located in the Gurehlgam Centre at the Cnr of Victoria & Villiers St last year. Leonie will give us some information on the centre and the work they have done to date in assisting families, so come along and listen if you are able to make it.

Until Wednesday, take care,
President Robert

The Child and Family Wellbeing Hub is up and running at full pace now. We’ve supported 126 families since opening our doors, which is wonderful.

I’m hoping you can help support a new initiative for a ‘Street Pantry’. A lot of the families we see are in crisis and food shortages are impacting children’s growth, development and ability to learn.

We have established a Street Pantry within the Gurehlgam grounds, where families in crisis can come, take what they need (ingredients for a meal, a few snacks, some nappies), free of charge.

I’m wondering if Rotarians could support this initiative by donating non-perishable goods?

MODEL UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY
Grafton Midday and McAuley Catholic College join forces to participate
in M.U.N.A.

McAuley Catholic College were represented by Jack Bailey, Melissa Meier and Jacqueline Samms and they did an exceptional job. Their teachers were Alex Montford and Natasha Green. There were 19 teams competing and considering none of them had been before, they all were amazing. They had been given details of 3 resolutions to research and an emergency resolution was posted on the day.
Some of them had multiple amendments that had to be dealt with before the resolution could be passed. It was a long & tiring day but Alex is keen to go again next year. The kids all had a great time and were happy we were them for support.
