JOKE CORNER
Sunday will be Mother's Day in Australia and I have been searching for a card that explains just how much I appreciate everything my poor mother did for me and had to put up with over the years.

I was delighted that the card I chose summed up everything I wished to say on such a special day in only four words: Congratulations! I am perfect!

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone has had a good week so far with some rain once again to settle the dust mid week.

What a great meeting we had on Wednesday with fantastic attendance to hear our guest speaker Leonie Staples, project manager First 2,000 days. Leonie gave us a very great overview of the work that her and her team have done in helping out around 125 families to date in this area with this project. After her talk our members engaged well in questions including but not limited to, “if we were able to help out with the Food Pantry, just to how we could best help”. A few of our members already were able to see if Leonie has already “tapped into” other local sources of goods that might fit with the project. We will as a club discuss if we are able to assist and have further discussions with Leonie.

We also heard of Leila & David’s experience at MUNA last weekend. Well done Leila of her accomplishment of having McCauley Catholic College attend this event, which from all reports is a 1st for our club, fantastic work Leila!

Bob also gave a summary of the previous Friday night’s raffle proceeds being donated to Tracey Faulston’s head shave to raise money for a family to be able to attend necessary treatment. Well done Bob for your efforts each week at the Raffles, and particularly great work for this worthy cause.

This Wednesday we are keen to hear from one of our newer members, Jeremy. Jeremy will give us some background into his life and his business Jempire Events, so come along and learn a little more about one of our newer members.

We also celebrated not one but three birthdays at the meeting with desserts and happy birthday being sung. Congratulations to Camellia, Skye & Des on yet another birthday.

Until Wednesday, take care & enjoy the rest of the weekend.

President Robert

First 2000 Days
The First 2000 Days  which outlines the importance of the first 2000 days in a child’s life (from conception to age 5) and what action people within the NSW health system need to take to ensure that all children have the best possible start in life.
The first 2000 days is a critical time for physical, cognitive, social and emotional health. What happens in the first 2000 days of life has been shown to have an impact throughout life. For example, early life experiences are: • strongly predictive of how a child will learn in primary school • a predictor of school performance, adolescent pregnancy and involvement with the criminal justice system in the adolescent years • linked to increased risk of drug and alcohol misuse and increased risk of antisocial and violent behaviour • related to obesity, elevated blood pressure and depression in 20-40 year olds • predictive of coronary heart disease and diabetes in 40-60 year olds • related to premature ageing and memory loss in older age groups.

We now know the in utero experience of a baby followed by a child’s early life experience predicts their chances of succeeding at school, of doing well in life and of having chronic diseases as an adult
