G’day fellow GMR members.

 

Early this month Tony, Ray and I attended Dougherty Villa for our monthly lunch meeting with the male
residents. This month was pizza for lunch. The guys are always happy to see us and to have a chat. We met
a new resident, John Wright whom many of us already know. John his wife Edna moved in about three
weeks before. John’s mind it still as sharp as a pin, but the same cannot be said for Edna. I found it
comforting that John was open about Enda’s his journey. I encourage any male members who can afford
the time, to come along from time to time.

A couple of weeks ago we welcomed Bruce Harding as a returning member of our club. Welcome back
Bruce. We all look forward to many fun times of service and fellowship.

Last Friday night saw 6 of our members, Herman, Bob, Bill, Phil, Camilla and Peter attend this month’s
Changing Lanes BBQ. Another great night of community involvement by the team. A night where no-one
should leave hungry and community showed their appreciation by donating just over $170 in the donations
bucket.

By the time this goes to print, past President Bob Booth would have celebrated his 80th Birthday. A big
congratulation’s to you Bob. I hope that you had a great day on your birthday and that your celebration on
the following Saturday is one to be remembered for many years to come.

This Friday night 25th August is our Crown Raffles night. A great night of fundraising and fundraising with
Rotary friends.

The Saturday before Father’s day, 2nd September is our next scheduled Bunnings BBQ. This should be a
busy day of involvement with the community on what is likely to be Bunnings busiest day of the year. I look
forward to seeing as many members there as we can muster. Bob & Judy will be getting a roster out soon.
