PRESIDENT'S RUMBLES
Grafton Midday Rotary continues to be an inspiring organisation as Governor General David Hurley stated at the baton launch recently. We continue to be engaged with the community in making a difference, and continuing of the theme “Doing good in the world”. Our projects, whilst limited due to Covid19 in the past year will have lasting impacts for individuals as well as the broader community. We hope to embark on a major joint project with Grafton Rotary for the broader Grafton community in this year being the Bridge park project. Joint projects will strengthen our footprint in our community for Rotary and our club.
Due to COVID 19 it will prove difficult to continue to be as social as we would like to be as a club moving forward but we will do our best given the barriers.  
As we know, our regular meetings are enjoyable, with a mix of Rotary business and pleasure. Given that our regular club meetings are often the window through which visitors and potential members see us, we should also continue to examine whether we can improve the way we run our meetings.
Thank you, fellow board & Club members, for empowering me to be your President for 2020/21 & leading you through such an exciting year for Rotary in Australia, being the 100th year in Australia.

Booksale News
DUE TO COViD-19 FURTHER BOOK SALES HAVE BEEN PLACE ON HOLD AT THIS TIME 
Under the current COVID-19  social distancing restrictions which are in place at this present stage. The Book Sale committee have put a hold on further book sales.
Currently have a large stock of sorted books ready for the next sale.   The committee are looking at all avenues to improve and add value to our book sales and would welcome any suggestion. 
 
African region declared free of wild poliovirus
 
The World Health Organization’s African region was officially certified free of wild poliovirus on 25 August. This milestone comes four years after Nigeria — the last polio-endemic country in Africa — recorded its final case of wild polio. It’s a significant step forward in the fight to eradicate polio and protect the world’s children from this paralyzing disease.
This incredible achievement is the result of a decades-long commitment by Rotary members, working with our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), African region leaders, and millions of edicated healthcare workers and supporters.
