Robert is still away enjoying his R&R
Vice Vibes by Lee
Our President Robert has been enjoying a well deserved holiday with Gerelle (she even had a birthday on the 31st March) Happy Birthday Gerelle.
Our meeting was the 1st of an informal format – where there are 5 weeks in the month we have a social gathering in the Stables where friends, family and partners are welcome to come along and catch up. Of course they can come along to other meetings as well.
We did have some news to cover after our regular toast and stretch.
The book sale went well considering the local flooding affected the numbers that came through. Net profits of $1100.00 were made – Peter had a huge Thanks to everyone who assisted with this fundraiser. Further to this he has spoken with the Maclean Club and decided that they will alternate sales and will now have 3 sales in the year. He is also considering a market stall on Jacaranda Thursday for the Red Spot specials – A great initiative to help raise funds for the community.
The Bunnings BBQ roster was finalised – Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day. Judy Glasson triumphed yet again with her exceptional organisational skills. It was a busy day that was none stop. Funds raised were $710.51 - A Great outcome considering we had replenishment costs of $543.59 due to Covid-19 cancelling 2020 BBQs.
Coming up next is the BBQ for Live & Loud on Thursday 14th April – starts at 4pm (helpers required to set up prior to this) finishes at 7pm. A collaborative initiative with NSOA and local council. If you can assist even for a little while please let Judy Glasson know.
Friday Roches raffles were not on due to Good Friday – however back next week – please support this fundraiser and come along to assist. If every member could help just once a year that would help take the pressure off those who arrive every week. The project funds have been going towards community defibrillators including South Grafton and Junction Hill – we are looking at assisting Coutts Crossing as well.
Our guest speaker for next week is Kelly from Landcare – please invite your partners, family and friends to hear about Landcare.
We had a game of heads and tails and David Thompson was the winner taking a lovely bottle of wine as his prize. I am sure Leila will enjoy this.
Don Cardow filled us in on the proposed Day Trip up to Buccarumbi – pencil in Saturday 24th April – they will be checking the roads to confirm all is safe for the journey.
Mark Blackadder confirmed that the Jacaranda Committee have kindly allowed Rotary to have a BBQ on Jacaranda Thursday – we will need helpers for this day – if you can assist please let Judy know. More details to come – this will be a busy day as it is proposed to also run the book stall on the same day.
Christmas in July has been confirmed as a Combined Rotary dinner on 25th July – prizes for best dressed theme…….pencil in now – more details to come.
I hope you all have a Happy and Safe Easter with friends and family.
Robert is back next week – Thanks for helping me learn how to manage the meetings.
