Hello dear GMR members & friends of GMR,

Well what another week again with the inclement weather with many areas experiencing flooding once again especially in the South East QLD corner. Even though the weather is always of concern to us all, we simply cannot change what the weather is doing, so we just need to make the most of what we have.

The Crown Hotel kitchen was closed on this week for renovations so the members attending our Wednesday meeting was treated to freshly prepared sandwiches organised by Judy G. A huge thank you to Judy for organising these for us to enjoy, a well-received change to our normal hot meal. Mark T gave us a very good rundown of some numbers from our Wine night where an amount of $4,250 was raised by the attendees on the night. This will now go to the District 9640 flood appeal for the funds to come back into the Clarence region. Mark B also handed out some beautiful flyers for our changeover dinner along with the Jacaranda “Top Hats & Tiaras” cocktail party being held at the Clocktower on Saturday 28th May, so if you are interested grab your tickets to both events for you to enjoy. Our changeover on Saturday 25th June doesn’t actually have tickets, simply pay your $65 directly to our General Account, or via our Eftpos Square at a meeting. For the Jacaranda event the link is: www.jacarandafestival.com/fundraisers link – Tickets are $50 P/P.

Our General Account details are:
  • BSB: 637000 (Greater Bank)
  • Account Number: 716468410
  • Reference: Your Name

On Thursday night we held our May Board meeting. The board worked on numerous items on behalf of the club to continue to being the progressive & modern club that we are. Over the next coming weeks we will have our Club Assembly to summarise the outcomes and the minutes will be available on Clubrunner soon. One of the items outcomes was to donate $100 to the Lung Foundation in memory of our good friend & Rotarian Russell Jones. The donation was in lieu of flowers.

Coming up soon will be changeover dinners for all clubs in the Clarence, so once the dates are known we will communicate them & if interested members can attend to support our clubs in the Clarence cluster.

Until Wednesday, Take care, stay safe & well.

Centenary President,
Robert.

Invitation to District 9640 Change-over
HUMOUR FOR THE WEEK
Some short humour this week!!!
A woman spent 35 years working for a bank. She was recently made
redundant and hasn't coped very well. She now spends her days
outside the branch using the ATM over and over again.

Doctors say she's just suffering from withdrawal symptoms
A soldier who was renting a house from me has done a runner owing
me six months rent. He told me he was a General but I’ve since
discovered he’s a Left Tenant.
