G’day fellow GMR members.
Well, what a busy few weeks it has been. Firstly, many of us were able to help celebrate past president Bob
Booth’s 80th birthday. While Bob may not have been ready to turn 80, he has a whole year to get used to it.
Happy birthday Bob and we look forward to celebrating many more with you.
The night before Bob’s birthday bash we held had our Crown raffles night. Where Bob, Ray and I sold $510 of
tickets to the wonderful crowd at the Crown. After expenses of $130, that left us with a surplus of $380. It
also allowed Bob one final practice session before his birthday celebrations. After the the draws were done
and prizes were won, Ray, Donna, Don, (who managed to get there as we finished the ticket sales), Avron and I sat back for some fellowship, food and something to wash it down with.
A few weeks ago we welcomed DG Dave Harmon & Jodie Shelley to our meeting. It was great to see Dave again and hear about how the regionalisation program is progressing and how it will work as time goes on. The
district is planning a day of action for Friday the 1st December that we should get behind. This is a
continuation of “Stop domestic violence” awareness campaign. Anyone wishing to get a campaign T shirt

As many of you may already know, we were successful with the two District grants that we applied for a while
ago. The two projects are:
1. Junction Hill Seating Project - In partnership with the Blue Goose Social Golf Club $2633
2. Domestic & Family Violence Awareness Program - In Partnership with the New School of Arts.
The last few Wednesdays have seen our Trivia Team consisting of Ray & Donna, Tony & Leanne, Phil & Yvonne and I bravely face the questions put to us with better results than the previous week, where we routinely come about the middle of the pack. Except for last week when we thought we should try to uplift the spirits of the Trivia community and allowed them all to beat us. But, as always, a good time was had by all!
We held our Bunnings BBQ on Saturday 2nd September, the day before Father’s Day. Firstly, a big thank you
to the members who participated on the day under the capable guidance of Judy & Bob. Well Done! We
had a good day of community engagement, service and fun. While the Bunnings staff were very busy, we
could have been busier. However, we did net $988 surplus on the day, compared with $802 in May. The
public recognised our good work with over $44 collected in our donation bucket.
