Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is remaining safe & well throughout the week given the local situation with Covid cases creeping into our community.
Unfortunately the fundraiser for our Jaca queen candidate Jess had to be postponed due to the current situation, but will be rescheduled for a date in the future TBC.
Great news of the week was that our combined Rotary club bridge project is complete for stage 1 including Seats, Table, Bike Rack Bins & even a dog litter bin! This is a great project for the community to enjoy & shows how we can achieve a wonderful outcome for our community to enjoy by uniting together to bring a worthwhile project together for the community. A huge thank you to the Volunteers that assisted Peter, Ryan & Jarrod Lynch from Lynch Constructions in the preparation & construction stage being Bob Booth, Don Cardow, Richard Pryor, myself & for secretary Greg Butcher for providing morning tea on one of the days. Thank you to everyone for your support throughout the project however big or small. We will have an opening event sometime in the future.

Some more exciting news this week is that our Carols are going ahead on Saturday 4th December at Market Square. As Jacaranda has had to be postponed, the event will also be part of the Jacaranda Festival however will still be known as the “Grafton Midday Rotary Christmas Carols”. Having the Jacaranda Festival postponed will be a huge benefit for our Carols as a lot of the infrastructure will already be in place such as the huge Marquee & seats. We will continue to work together with Mark Blackadder & the Jaca committee to make this event something that the community will remember & are so keen for us to put on for them this year in what has been yet another very trying year.
We have secured the Polio Movie for this year’s Polio event however it has to be delayed until Sunday afternoon 12th December at the Saraton commencing at 3pm. The movie is a blockbuster called “The Duke”. A british comedy not to be missed: "Set in 1961, it follows the story of Kempton Bunton, a 60-year old taxi driver, who stole Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. It was the first, and remains the only, theft in the Gallery's history”.
We are also planning for lunch prior at the Clocktower hotel which also forms part of the fundraiser.
We also had another productive Board meeting on Thursday night, so directors will give a brief overview of key outcomes at the members forum planned for Wednesday at Roches. Unfortunately I am an apology for Wednesday due to a prior all day commitment, however VP Lee will run the meeting so I’m sure you will enjoy her leadership & enjoy the break from me.
