Hi everyone. I hope you have had a good week and the storms didn’t cause too much havoc for you.

 

Another good meeting was had this week with a good attendance. Herman gave us a good overall summary of the Monday night where we teamed up with Grafton Rotary & Inner Wheel at the Grafton City Bush Fire shed along Rushforth road. Our DGA Anne Farrell drove up from Maclean to be with us as well, thanks Anne. The night starting off well until the large storm hit when we were eating which made it hard to socialise until well after the meal where we could actually hear each other again. Ian, Sue, Mick & their team gave us all a lovely meal with the proceeds of $1200 being donated, well done everyone & thank you Herman for your summary of the night. Bob also gave us a briefing on his visit to Dougherty Villa the week before. Bob, Don and their team do a wonderful job in visits to Dougherty villa each month to allow the Men of the Villa to have a meal and chat to outside persons to add some enjoyment to their lives.

 

Jeremy gave  us talk on the Youth week event under the Grafton Library on Thursday afternoon 15^th April. Clarence Valley Council will provide all the food for us to cook on that afternoon so we just need to bring along a BBQ and some helpers. Judy Glasson is taking volunteers names for this event as well as Bunnings BBQ on easter Saturday, 3^rd April.

 

Lee brought us up to date with some proposed social gatherings in the future. The Criterion have kindly gave us an opportunity to have a night on Thursday 20^th May which was explained to the members to think about and we will talk about this again at this week’s meeting. The 2^nd event was a combined Clarence Valley Rotary club’s cluster for a Christmas in July at the infamous “Harwood Hilton” in July.

 

After this week’s meeting I will be on leave for 2 weeks. Gerelle & I are “jet setting” off to Tropical North QLD to Cairns for 5 nights then back to beautiful Burleigh Heads to laze around & relax for another 9 nights. While I am away VP Lee will take over the reins & I know that she will definitely look after you all and ensure the club continues to run smoothly and members enjoy their time. Unfortunately I will miss the Book sale & the Bunnings BBQ during this time, however this was a good time for us to book as School Holidays don’t start until Good Friday this year (We had booked a long time ago though).
