   PRESIDENT'S  RUMBLE
 Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a good week given the current Covid Situation.

Wednesday's meeting we met in the Captains Table room at Roches, with only a small number of us attending. This was our 1st official meeting for 21/22 in the year of "Serve to Change Lives". However at the meeting Peter R presented a Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow to Camellia for her contributions to the foundation, congratulations Camellia. At the same time yours truly was awarded a Sapphire Paul Harris Fellow as well by Peter. Thank you to Peter, his small committee & my club members for my 2nd PFH, an honor to be thought of as a worthy recipient of this wonderful award.

At this stage the Curry afternoon is still going ahead at the gallery, so please invite your friends & family and come along to taste some of our Town's greater curries. Unfortunately Christmas in July has had to be postponed to a later date.

We will meet again at Roches this Wednesday at Roches, so please come along for some fellowship as we have held off on Guest speakers due to the current situation with Covid.

Until Wednesday, take care, stay safe & look forward to meeting with you on Wednesday.

Centenary President, Robert.

CURRY NIGHT AT THE GALLERY
Hi All Grafton Midday Members,
The Grafton Midday Board has all agreed to proceed with a new GMR Fundraiser ‘Curry at The Gallery’ on Saturday evening 14th August 2021, from 5:00 - 9:00pm (setting up from 3:00pm in the Gallery Courtyard).
Please do not stress if you did not know anything about this event, as it is well organised already through myself, a small committee and the remaining Midday Board, however the night will need a few other members to help set up and pull-down tables etc on and before the night.
A number of Chefs from Grafton Restaurants/Hotels have been invited to cook a specialty curry and bring it along for the tasting of, similar to the famous Soup Day Fundraiser at the Grafton Gallery. There will be a bar service available run by RSA holders to purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, with profits going to the Club. We are also very lucky to be able to use the Gallery’s liquor licence on the night.
As August can be quite cool, there are only 4 tall gas heaters available (at this stage), so you may need to ‘rug up’ on the night, as it will be out in the Gallery courtyard. The Gallery are supporting us for the event, however have asked the Club for a small donation which we would present on the night.
Please do not be concerned about the timing of the event on a Winter’s night - if it’s too cold, then this will leave it open for those who want to come and can handle the cold – there is no age limit. We cannot cater for everyone and this is the time slot the Gallery has kindly given us, keeping in mind the 1–2-hour set-up time outside Gallery opening hours to the general public. It also suit’s a classy dinner time event at a prestigious venue, which I’m quite sure will attract many people.
The reason I’m sending out this APB (all-points bulletin - for those who love acronyms) is for you to buy your tickets and get in first if you would like to attend, as we think they’ll go like hot cakes (or would that be hot curry?).
100 seated tickets are up for sale and we’ve already reserved around 10-15 unofficially outside the Club just mentioning it in general conversation. So, around 85 tickets are up for grabs. Midday Members may take up to another 35-40 tickets, so only 45-50 to hot sell via Eventbrite.
Tickets are $45pp and will be available through Eventbrite very soon. So please don’t ‘dilly dally on the way’ as they say, otherwise you will miss out and I’ll never hear the end of it!
I’ll be sending out the Eventbrite link to all members over the next couple of days, so keep a lookout in your emails. I’ll also get PE Lee to text everyone as soon as they are up for the buying of.
If the event is cancelled due to inclement weather or any dreaded COVID Restrictions, you’ll be able to hang onto your tickets for a further date to be announced (which the Gallery has pencilled in on Saturday 18th September at this stage). There is no refund of tickets if you can’t make the second date as it is a fundraiser, so please organise to give your tickets to someone else and arrange payment back to yourself etc if you would like to go down that track.
FUNDRAISER
A fundraiser morning tea is being held at the Braunstone Community Hall on the 24th July from 9.30 am and the organizers would like it to be an opportunity to acknowledge our contribution of $2,300.00 to their defibrillator appeal for one unit for the Braunstone hall and one for the industrial precinct at the Hotel 5. If you would like to be part of the Rotary representation, call Bob.(0428 447 227). Numbers are required for catering purposes.
Bob.
