      Hi everyone,

I hope you have had an enjoyable week & a great weekend.

.This weekend saw the close of the delayed Jacaranda Festival. What a fantastic 10 - 12 days has been with festivities with numerous Midday Rotarian’s volunteering during the festival. Friday night was the regular Venetian Carnival at the new location of market Square. Last night the annual Jacaranda ball was held at the PCYC after being transferred from Market Square due to the condition of park, wow what an event with approx. 550 guests attending. Grafton came out “Dressed to the Nines” as it was an event that everyone were waiting for due to not being able to get out during the pandemic. Amongst these were numerous Midday Rotarians and our very own 9640 Cluster, AG Anne Farrell. The basketball courts were turned into an amazing function centre for the guests to enjoy. And absolutely amazing event that Desan, Mark B & his team of committee members are to be congratulated on a fantastic festival. We did get a photo of all of the available Rotarians that attended the Ball & could be found to get a picture in front of the Jaca photo screen. I will share this photo once available.

Unfortunately I was an apology last Wednesday’s meeting due to severe staff shortages in our organisation. VP Lee once again stepped up to welcome our special guest, District Membership Chair along with Jodie Shelly, District 9640 DG Newsletter Editor. I understand Dave gave a great overview of the impoprtance of membership not only within our club but for Rotary in general. AG Anne was also in attendance during the meeting. Peter gave a rundown of the successful Carols event.

Lee advised that the long awaited Jaca fun run had to be cancelled  that was due to be held on Sunday, today, where a number of GMR members were assisting in volunteering. Saturday was our Bunnings BBQ which was run in conjunction with the Black Dog Institute. David & Kerry Priest were in attendance selling tickets in raffles and assisting on the day. It was an honour to be able to work with David & Kerry for such a wonderful cause.

This Wednesday is our AGM, so come along to be part of this regulatory annual event on the GMR calendar. Incoming president Lee has most of her board in order for the 22/23 year, however if you would like to assist on the 22/23 board please talk with Lee or myself.

Until Wednesday, take care & stay safe,

Centenary President,
Robert

HUMOUR FOR THE WEEK
A little old man shuffled slowly into ice scream and pulled himself slowly, painfully, up onto a stool.

After catching his breath he ordered a banana split. Jeff asked kindly, "Crushed nuts?"

"No," he replied, "arthritis.

Just a little update on the situation with my brother because some of you have been pretty concerned. He took going to jail pretty hard, he's refusing all food, he's spitting and screaming at everyone, is threatening violence at anyone who comes near him.
and is refusing to wear clothes.

As a family we're pretty united in our decision not to play Monopoly with him anymore.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
From Me to You I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The bulletin will return in early 2022 with the news of Grafton Midday Rotary.
