After an absence of three weeks everything came back with a rush, and thanks to PP Brian, it appears that the good ship is still sailing on an even keel.
Although we did not have a guest speaker there was plenty of discussion with Brian attending Grafton Rotary’s meeting to discuss manning of the Men’s Health caravan at the Grafton show. Brian has since
produced a time sheet for those that have volunteered for this great cause.
Lee reported on the Fun Ride to take place on the 11th May from Memorial Park, and our involvement in the running of it as far as marshalling etc.
Lee also appealed to us to support the GDSC’s Helping Hands Trivia Night on Saturday the 11th May at 6.30pm for the benefit of Julie Holder who is suffering a recurrent cancer. If you can attend please contact Lee and let’s make up at least one table and possibly two. Lee can be contacted on 0487 974 491.
A previous guest speaker, Mark Blackadder, Secretary of the Jacaranda Festival Committee, gave an insight into the program for this year’s Jacaranda Festival. Following on from this we have been approached by Zahli Stevens to sponsor her as a Jacaranda Queen Candidate.
I have invited Zahli to our next Wednesday meeting for an opportunity for all of us to meet her and hear of her aspirations.
You may remember some time ago Ros Houlahan from Dougherty Villa spoke on the loneliness of the men in care. She has arranged a men only lunch on the 1st Thursday of every month and Brian, Don and I visited
yesterday and cooked up a BBQ which was enjoyed by all. I just hope that we were able to brighten their life even for a very short time.
Hopefully we will be able to join them on the first Thursday of each month. Interestingly the women residents felt put out and so if there are
any ladies who would be able to join them whilst we have the men’s lunch they would be made most welcome.
For those who were listening to 103.1 this morning you may have heard the dulcet tones of our very own Herman expounding on our very own Midday Rotary Club. Well done Herman. This will be a fortnightly segment at 8.10am so listen in. Thanks to 103.1 also for allowing this segment.

Look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.
