BOB'S BANTER
A well attended meeting on Wednesday with one guest, Zahli Stevens, our Jacaranda Queen Candidate.
Zahli reported on her activities and fund raising ideas and I urge all members to support her where possible. This is a Community Service project and all funds raised and hours contributed will be credited as such. Judy Glasson will head up a support team which will be looking for any ideas for fund raising, so, if you have a you beaut idea let’s hear it.

Miriam has started her fund raising which is limited to selling of raffle tickets in the major Jacaranda prize.

Those who attended the District Assembly gave brief reports and the general consensus was, it was well worth attending. I think we all agreed, we all learnt something. I am still confused as to how the foundation
works and I feel we should get Tony Heading along to a meeting sometime.

Don and I went to Dougherty Villa yesterday and joined the male residents for Men’s Lunch. I only hope we do cheer them up, it is very hard to communicate with them but I think the mere fact that we are there is something different. Next month we will be cooking the BBQ for both the men and women and I urge anyone who is available for lunch on the 1st Thursday of the month to consider joining in.

Lets Welcome a new Rotary Club
Dear Rotary Club Leaders,
 
Let me share some great news with you.
 
"Rotary Club of Gold Coast Passport" was chartered by Rotary International on 5th June as the 25th Passport Club in the world and first in our District. Copy of Charter is attached. Please share the news with your members.
 
There is no sponsor club. This was a District initiative by me as DGN, under the guidance of District Governor Terry Brown. We will spend the next 3 months helping them understand more about how Rotary works and the district support to new clubs.   
 
With 20 young professionals all under 45 years of age, this club will bring in a new dimension to our district in making Rotary accessible to young professionals. You will love their enthusiasm, energy & skills.
 
They are all new to Rotary and your patience and friendship to them will be most helpful in their Rotary journey. 
 
Club meetings & Time;
 
Last Tuesday of the month.
6pm to 7pm Wine & Cheese network meet up.
Karma Collab Hub 47 Lemana Lane off Christine Avenue, Miami, Gold Coast.
 
The charter presentation ceremony is planned for mid August and Charter President Candice will send you an official invite to this cocktail event.
 
You are welcome to congratulate the young charter president Candice & her team to motivate them further with a post on their Facebook Page; Gold Coast Passport Rotary. Please share their FB on your club FB too.

Working with children check - Compulsory

The Working With Children Check (WWCC) is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work in NSW. It involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of reportable workplace misconduct. 

The outcome of a check is either a clearance to work with children or a bar against working with children. If cleared, the check will be valid for 5 years, however applicants are continuously monitored. 

If you're applying because you're a paid employee or self-employed, there's a fee for the WWCC. If you're a volunteer, a student on a professional placement, potential adoptive parents or an authorised carer, you won't need to pay the fee. 

You can apply online for your WWCC.
