2017 Supreme Windows $1,000,000 Calgary South Rotary Amateur Golf Classic

We Look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome to the 2017 Supreme Windows $1,000,000 Calgary South Rotary Amateur Golf Classic in support of the Rotary Club of Calgary South Stay in School Program representing our 16th Annual Event. We are excited to offer “cars with class” for 4 hole-in-one prizes and a chance for one of twelve tournament participants to win $1,000,000 in the Peloton $1,000,000 shoot-out.

Cottonwood Golf and Country Club management and staff have assisted us in organizing this event for the past 13 years. They are looking forward to once again accommodating us on Thursday July 27th, 2017.

The tournament is a major source of funding for the Stay-In-School Program and provides an opportunity for sponsors and players to participate in a meaningful program that will have a long-term impact on the future of Calgary students.  To date through the generosity of Supreme Windows, the sponsors and the players, the tournament has raised close to $1,600,000 in its 16- year history.

We’re excited to build off of the success of our past tournaments and continue raising funds to help promising young students obtain a post-secondary education.

After many years working as an itinerant choreographer, Grand-Maître set himself the goal of directing a ballet company and in 2002 was hired by ALBERTA BALLET, where he has restaged a number of his earlier works and created popular versions of Bizet's Carmen and Prokofiev's Cinderella and Romeo and Juliet. Grand-Maître has had considerable box office and critical success by creating ballets to popular music. In 2007 he collaborated with Canadian musician Joni MITCHELL on the ballet Joni Mitchell's The Fiddle and the Drum, a work about war and the environment. In 2010 he created a Broadway-style ballet about sensationalist aspects of the life of singer/songwriter Elton John, called Love Lies Bleeding, to be followed by a ballet using the music of Canadian songstress Sarah MCLACHLAN in a new work.

Jean Grand-Maître has expanded Alberta Ballet to 30 dancers, making it Canada's 3rd-largest ballet company, and has led it on several tours of China as well as extensive domestic touring. He has given Alberta Ballet a distinct artistic personality and advanced his predecessors' efforts to establish its national and international profile. He was also the director of choreography for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.

Grand-Maître, notably articulate and polylingual, has also become an outspoken advocate for the role of the arts within Alberta and nationally.

Rick Istead has been a long term player in the Canadian agriculture scene having worked for Syngenta Crop Protection Canada Inc. and its predecessor companies for almost 34 years in both eastern and western Canada and at its international headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. Responsibilities over that period included early stage research, product development, technical service, regulatory affairs and most recently the marketing of Syngentas seed treatment products. Rick retired from Syngenta in mid 2006 and shortly afterwards established a small Ag Business consulting service based out of Calgary. The firm offers consulting services in the regulatory, product development, marketing, communications, and board governance fields . Since 2006 Rick has been supporting the Alberta Winter Wheat Producers Commission and the newly created Alberta Wheat Commission as their Executive Director helping the boards of both organizations build a new vision and strategy for the wheat industry in the province and in Canada. Now fully retired, Rick likes to keep active through his involvement in Rotary, where he is past President of the Rotary Club of Calgary Fish Creek (2009-2010), current Chair of the District 5360 Youth Exchange Committee, Rotary Leadership Institute facilitator and North American Youth Exchange Network (NAYEN) board member. Rick also keeps active by volunteering at the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank and the Calgary Zoo. Golfing and gardening in the summer and curling in the winter rounds out his list of hobbies. Rick is married to Pat and they have two daughters, Laura and Katherine all of whom are also active volunteers.
