Our Tom Baines Jr. High Interact Club was busy last week.
The school presented an evening of international flavor called ONE WORLD CELEBRATIONTables and booths were set up throughout the school offering a glimpse of life in other parts of the world.
There were posters with pictures and descriptive writing, samples of food (baklava, pakora, dumplings, italian flatbread) which were very very yummy, students were performing in the gym (we saw a Chinese dancer and a ballerina) and we even heard a great performance by the Harmony Guzheng (Chinese zithar) ensemble.
Our Interactors had a HUGE display all about Cambodia and were also soliciting suggestions for their next local project. Dominic, the president, is such an amazing leader. He is in grade 9 and will be going to Sir Winston Churchill next year where he hopes there can be an Interact club.
The kids worked hard at creating this display and in the process learned a great deal about Rotary and Cambodia.Kurt says: "It was amazing to see the school celebrating it's cultural diversity. Our Interact club has been actively promoting the needs of Cambodia in the school. The display they presented at this celebration really and truly highlighted the problems and issues in Cambodia. I am certainly proud of the great work that these dedicated young people are doing!"
We are expecting to deliver Interact T-shirts and a banner to this club in the very near future.
Stay tuned for more information!
