Evening Meeting on May 28th

 
 

 
GREAT FOOD, GREAT SPEAKERS, GREAT CAUSE
 
Come and join us for an evening of information, fellowship and fun on Thursday May 28th at the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Centre (7:30 pm) as we support CAWST and their efforts in Nepal.
Water for Nepal features the following speakers:
 
  • Karl Herzog: Rotarian who led the trek to Everest Base Camp in 2012
  • Aliisa Paivalainen: Rotarian who works for Global Emergency Group and will speak on mobilizing support during disasters with a focus on Nepal
  • Bob Wiens: Rotarian who will speak about the relationship between Rotary and CAWST and the impact of doing water projects in the world
  • Lee Boudreau: CAWST representative who will have an update on what’s happening in Nepal regarding water and sanitation
  • Prashanna Shrestha, president of the local Nepali community will speak on behalf of the people of Nepal
 
In addition, we’ll have a silent auction featuring Nepali crafts & others, a geranium sale for your garden and a raffle (1st prize: painting by “The Waterman”, 2nd prize $50 gift certificate to the Himalayan restaurant; 3rd prize $40 Starbucks gifts basket. This is also a work experience opportunity for the kids in the MakeWorx program at Hull Services. They will be preparing and serving delicious appetizers throughout the evening. Springbank Cheese is our sponsor and will tempt your palate with an array of tasty cheeses.
 
It’s a win win win event!
 
We have had great support from donors and raised $560 just by advertising our event via email and Facebook.
 
Even though both Calgary Sarcee and Calgary Olympic are having their weekly meeting at this event we are still a bit short of our target for this event so your attendance is greatly appreciated.
 
So please join us in support of CAWST and the innumerable victims of this natural disaster.
