Meeting of November 22
Meeting was ably chaired by President-Elect, Bill Avery.  Introduction by Bill. Oh Canada. Invocation by Greeter Jennifer Lavier-Jankovic.
 
Sid announced a special meeting (as per our By-Laws) to discuss and vote on the recommendations from the Legacy committee.  That special meeting will be held on December 6th at the regular Rotary luncheon meeting at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel.  
 
The following is a reprint of Howie Shikaze’s Presentation on the potential partnership with the City of Calgary and the United Way to cooperate on building community hubs. Howie outlined the committee’s recommendations and will entertain questions as required.  The other committee members were Michael Colborne, Tom Hickerson, Tim Heaton, Andrea Serink, Bill Andrew, and Nicky Liao.  All are available to answer your questions on the legacy committee activity and recommendations.
 
The Board of Directors has passed a motion that will commit $2,000,000 to our next Signature Legacy Project.  $300,000 per year will be committed to the project for 5 years commencing 2018.  The Club commits to raise another $500,000 by the year 2023.

Marcy Cochlan, TransAlta’s Manager of Market Regulation, talked about the Alberta Power Sector and the major transition that it’s going through as a result of new environmental regulations, including those introduced in the Alberta government’s Climate Leadership Plan.

Signature Legacy Project Proposal:  Innovations to Poverty Reduction 
A special meeting (as per our By-Laws) will be held at the December 6th luncheon to discuss and vote on the recommendations from the Legacy committee. 
 
This Signature Legacy project is about creating innovations to reduce poverty in tipping point neighborhoods by building a path to self-sustaining community hubs.
 
Rotarians pride themselves on providing service above self to strengthen their own communities and communities around the world.  200,000 Calgarians need help now.
