Most people join Rotary because they want to take action and volunteer. Rotary organizes volunteer opportunities in 5 categories of what it calls AVENUES of Service.

Perhaps you don’t have time to volunteer on a committee or take on a project. Volunteering at a club meeting is part of Club Service and does not require much time at all. When you commit to volunteering for a role at a club meeting, you have the opportunity of staying engaged, or expanding your comfort zone and even meeting new friends. Something as simple as introducing a speaker or providing a short invocation can keep you engaged in your club. Support & guidance for all these roles is available.
We are introducing an automated feature expanding the opportunity to volunteer at a club meeting to ALL club members. Yes, each one of you will receive an invitation to sign up for a club role. We strongly encourage you to participate and live the motto “Service Above Self”. Our hope is that we will only need to send out 1 message each month to fill all the club meeting roles for the upcoming month.
One of our new members, Ryan Klinck, will be managing the Volunteer Sign Up for Club meetings. Congratulations Ryan on joining the club and showing great leadership in taking on this task. Ryan will be assisted by Rebecca Klepic who joined our club last year.
We hope you consider taking on a role for one meeting. The responsibilities as quite simple:
Check In (in person meetings only) | Checks the list of registered guests as Rotarians and Guests arrive. Requested to be ready at 11:30 am. Great way to meet members. You don’t have to handle payments as all tickets are pre-purchased! Just check off names on the list provided by Jo-Ann. |
Sergeant At Arms (in person meetings only) | Confirms Head table people are present and know where to sit. Jo-ann provides this information. |
Greeter (in person meetings only) | Welcomes everyone as they come into the room. Wonderful way to get to know everyone (remember everyone wears a nametag so you don’t have to remember names!) |
Invocation | Prepares and presents an invocation (<2 minutes – short and sweet) |
Introducer | Prepares and delivers introduction of speaker. The Programs Committee can provide information. |
Thanker | Thanks speaker and hands over the certificate. You can customize the impact of the speaker’s presentation and we provide you with the standard script regarding the presentation of the certificate. |
We are currently looking to fill volunteer roles for the month of May. On Tuesday April 19th, you’ll receive an email in the evening, listing the roles for which you can sign up.
Once all spots are filled, there will be no need for us to send emails reminding people of these opportunities. We strongly recommend you sign up in the next couple of days as the positions will fill up rapidly!
Managing our volunteer base in this manner will allow us to be strategic about our emails and providing rapid reporting on volunteer hours provided by our members.
