This is the last issue of the COG Volune 41. I want to extend a big thanks to Diane Macdonald and Doug McMillan who have been part of the team bringing this COG to you every couple of weeks. I also want to thank all of you "reporters" out there providing articles on a regular basis. Without your input we would never witness the amazing and huge amount of work done by our Rotarians and would not be aware of the impact we have in our community both local and international.
This year we presented just over 200 stories for you to enjoy!

2025 Rotary International Convention – RIGHT HERE!

Yes, Rotarians from around the world will convene right here in Calgary in June of 2025. The kick off day is June 22 and we hope to host over 20,000 Rotarians. Our Host Organizing Committee (HOC) presented a webinar on June 11th about our role as local Rotarians. Click here to view the presentation which was attended by about 185 Rotarians in our District. Bread, The App – Now a reality

In 2020, during the early months of Covid, RCCD and other Clubs donated to increase the supply of emergency food. Resulting from a conversation with Meaghon Reid and our own club member Steve Allan, Vibrant Communities Calgary, commissioned a study on accessing emergency food. The report, released in 2021 outlined 11 recommendations. Here’s how this evolved into “BREAD” the App!
On Thursday June 13, 2024 the Arnica Foundation held a celebration of its work at Juno House to recognize donors. Arnica is a wildflower found in Alberta that has demonstrated healing qualities. Our club continues it's strong relationship with Arnica.
As you may recall, our club sponsored the Rotary Calgary Concerto Competition in March. The winners of this competition were featured at the Calgary Civic Symphony’s final concert on June 2nd, called Rising Stars. One of our winners, Chanan Ngo, expressed his heartfelt thanks in a letter sent to the orchestra recently. The impact of this competition is profound, and the joy felt by the over 600 people in attendance at the concert was incredible. Let’s watch this rising star glow in the future! Sizzling Success: BBQ Event Hosted by Our Club at West Dover School

On June 14th, West Dover School, one of the six schools in our Stay in School program, held its year-end festival. From experience, we know that offering a BBQ is a surefire way to encourage more kids and their parents to attend. This year was no exception. Our team of Rotarians cooked and served around 450 hamburgers and hotdogs. A big thank you to all our volunteers who helped prepare and serve the food. A lot of fun was had by all. Great job, team!
