Benevity is a technology company whose software allows its customers to promote engagement of their employees in online giving, volunteering and community investment. Mr. de Lottinville described how many of the world’s best-known companies use Benevity’s software to deliver “goodness” programs. These companies know that meeting their social obligations is essential to attracting and engaging their workforces by connecting their people with the causes that matter to them.

Bryan de Lottinville noted that the 2019 Edelman Trust Barometer reiterates its earlier finding that public trust in the media and government are at an all-time low and that people are much more likely to trust their employers. This simple truth creates opportunities and imperatives for companies to be the driving force for positive change in the world. He told us that Benevity was founded to change three key statistics.
  • Only 13 percent of the $450 billion donated to North American charities were online donations.
  • Only 5 percent of all donations come from corporate giving.
  • Almost 70 percent of all employees are not engaged in their jobs.
Benevity believes ‘goodness’ can enable businesses to meaningfully engage their people, promote a unified corporate culture, and generate measurable results by reaching out to communities in need.

Benevity’s explosive growth since its founding in 2008 has resulted in its processing 3 billion dollars in donations and 17 million volunteer hours in the past year to 200,000 charities worldwide.

Benevity is proud to be a Certified B Corporation, a new kind of business that balances purpose and profit. Certified B Corporations must account for how their decisions impact workers, customers, suppliers and the environment.

Benevity’s software helps these companies in meeting their obligations to ‘do well by doing good.’

Benevity envisions a world with no need for Certified B Corporations in which all companies pursue profit jointly with a social purpose.

Al McMillan thanked Mr. de Lottinville for his inspiring and information-packed presentation.
