HAYLEY'S HERALD

Well, now we all know a bit more about Stephanie – as the daughter of an air traffic controller I can imagine their reaction to bouncing the landing of a plane and I would also be very keen to talk to Stephanie about what she learnt from them in her professional life. Stephanie - I think you are just amazing – a silent achiever with a beautiful heart and I’m so glad you are a part of Mt Warning AM Rotary Club.

We are starting to call on donations for our next packing night for You Have A Friend – this will be done on an evening prior to Christmas, so along with our usual requests if you are able to provide a small gift the recipients are always grateful.

Do you know anyone who would be an excellent RYTS or RYLA candidate? Please see Judy Parker if you have someone in mind.

Who will this week’s secret greeter be?

Please, as courtesy can we have our orders to Johnny Franco’s by lunch on the Tuesday prior to our meeting (breakfast options below). Orders received after this time will be prepared last.

Or if you are a creature of habit such as myself and order the same breakfast each week you can let Adam know what you would like as your standing order and then you don’t have to do a weekly order. Just simply let the Johnny Franco’s team know if you are going to be away or if you want to shake it up and try something different. #belikehayley

Membership Chair Cherry said that her attendance along with Julie and Kaileen at the local Farmers' Market to promote our club was successful and members will be rostered to attend at future markets.

Youth Chair Judy asked us to be on the lookout for candidates for RYTS and RYLA.

Judy then introduced our guest speaker, Stephanie, to deliver her Member Behind the Badge presentation.

Stephanie's forebears on her father's side came from northern Germany and during a visit to Germany Stephanie used her investigative skills to trace her family back to 1397. Over the years their surname varied from Boldermann to Bolderman.

Three Bolderman sons eventually left Germany - one to the United States and two to Australia, one of whose was Stephanie's paternal grandfather who settled in Longreach. The Bolderman Drapery business was conducted in Longreach until 1960. Her paternal grandmother was an accomplished pianist. THe Bolderman clan is quite large with Stephanie having about 40 cousins.

Stephanie's mother came from the East End of London and emigrated to Australia with her family 1n 1950. Her mother was related to the actress Lillian Langtree. For some reason the family adopted the surname McFarlane (from the surname Bishop) and acted as Scots rather than as Cockneys.

Stephanie's father worked for Telecom and the family moved from Rockhampton, to Brisbane and on to Townsville where Stephanie grew up as an only child. Stephanie's mother was a physiotherapist.

Both her parents were keen bush walkers and bird watchers, activities which Stephanie now enjoys.

In the 1980s her mother became interested in spirituality and took Stephanie to seances, The family spent some time at an Ashram in India.

Stephanie's first career was in hospitality on Orpheus Island. She was also learning to fly clocking up over 100 hours and flying solo twice. When on the ground Stephanie was a competitive ballroom dancer and she also found time to backpack around Europe.

Stephanie graduated with a degree in Organisational Psychology from the University of Queensland and worked in the Queensland Government for 20 years. She met her husband Steve at the Premier's Department and they married in 2007.

Stephanie is passionate about doing charitable works and travel.

Kaylene Stanford delivered a vote of thanks.

Simone won the raffle in absentia.

Lots of fines were doled out before Hayley closed the meeting.
