HAYLEY'S HERALD

Welcome to November! Wow this year is flying by.

It was a pleasure to have Brian and Val Heaton visit last week speaking to us about Rotary Health. Brian may have better jokes than me but that’s okay I have a couple of joke books rescued from the book fair for me.

The book fair was as usual a well-orchestrated and profitable machine. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

This week it is Mt Warning AM’s turn to host our District Governor Andy and also our Assistant Governor Bruce so it’s going to be a cracking meeting.

We are starting to write an inspirational quote or something we love about Rotary on the blackboard that sits out the front of Johnny Franco’s, this will form part of our weekly roster so start thinking of your own words of wisdom.

Have you donated an item to our end of year You Have A Friend Christmas packing night?

Do you know anyone who would be an excellent RYTS or RYLA candidate? Please see Judy Parker if you have someone in mind.

Cheers,
Hayley

DID YOU KNOW?

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.

Since it was founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects.

With your help, we can make lives better in your community and around the world.

Our mission

The mission of The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

What impact can one donation have?

  • For as little as 60 cents, a child can be protected from polio.
  • $50 can provide clean water to help fight waterborne illness.
  • $500 can launch an anti-bullying campaign and create a safe environment for children.

Rotary training day in November on Foundation and International Service. Hayley will provide more details later.
Brian Heaton gave a presentation on Australian Rotary Health which is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research in Australia.
This medial research fund provides around $3.5million for research each year. They do fund other research as well mental health research.
Brian is trying to promote Australian Rotary Health to more Rotary clubs to encourage them to donate more each year.
