"As the representative for the promotion of the International Convention, I write to remind you to diarise the Rotary International Convention to be conducted in Taipei, the capital city of TAIWAN, 12 – 16 June 2021, Saturday to Wednesday.
In particular, I wanted to remind you of the last day for Early Registration to be 15 December 2020.
The reduced rate, up till that date, for Rotarians and Guests, 31yrs and over, is $US365. Rotarians and Guests under 30yrs and children are charged at an even more reduced rate.
However, the last date for Early Registration has now been extended to 15 February 2021.
Early in the new year, Rotary will consider issues of international travel regarding health and safety and further advice will be provided prior to that February date.
I know Taipei and Taiwan very well and would be happy to share my personal knowledge of the people and the nation.
Accordingly, I am making myself available to all Rotary Clubs in the District as a Guest Speaker on this remarkable international opportunity for Rotarians of District 9640.
Let me share just a couple of interesting points on this outstanding country:
1: Taiwan is just half the size of Tasmania yet has a similar population to our own nation.
2: Taiwan built the biggest building in the world in 2014 - Taipei 101. It was overtaken only in 2010.
3: Taipei 101 is still the biggest “green” building in the world.
4: Taiwan is a world leader in managing Covid-19 with just 7 fatalities in total.
5: Taiwan has a subtropical to tropical climate so summer there will be perfect for our district representatives.
6: Taiwan has six mountains higher than Mt. Kosciuszko with lovely national parks and beaches.
So, do note the new early registration date and costs (above), and if you would like a Guest Speaker on this opportunity, then, please contact me.
Yours in Rotary Service,
