Gem Munro uprooted the members of the Rotary Club of Airdrie today and took our minds to Bangladesh for the duration of his presentation. It was all about the power of education.

Gem is from the Amarok Society, and his talk was about the real success in their model for bringing lasting change to an overlooked education crisis. The Amarok Society founders, Dr. Tanyss and Gem Munro have introduced this model by helping some of the poorest women in the world become catalysts of sustainable change in the world around them. Their methodology draws upon indigenous traditions, history, and culture to create transformative change in students’ lives, which they in return pass on to students of their own. People in the community helping people, because of a hunger to learn and to teach, and a drive to be more than just to exist.
