Airdrie has lost a pillar of the community.

Respected resident and long-time realtor, Ed Eggerer passed away suddenly, March 17.

Eggerer attended the University of North Dakota in the 60s, studying history and political science. He taught school in Winnipeg for a time before he obtained his real estate licence in 1978.

He moved to Airdrie in 1980 and became president and co-owner of Century 21 Castlewood Agencies, with partners Milt Brandson and Keith Wilson. After selling the business in 1997, he was active as an agent/associate with Century 21 PowerRealty.ca.

Eggerer's involvement in the Airdrie community is well known, as a 25-year charter member and past president of Airdrie Rotary Club, and a founding member and past director of Bethany Care Center in the City. The long list of his contributions also includes his work as a founding member and past president of the S.O.S Society at George McDougall High School. Eggerer built two Lotto Houses to raise funds for schools.

Celebration of Ed's life will be on March 26, 2013 at 1:30pm at the Town and Country in Airdrie.
