President's Message

It’s official !!!

Our Assistant Governor Jill Barker confirmed that we are indeed are a noisy energetic vibrant club, at her official visit this week.

She breezed in at 6:45 AM “on fire” and ready to roll.

Thanks to the board members who joined her for a 7 AM meeting, offering sometimes blunt and non-ambiguous messages for Rotary.

No guest speaker, just President George yacking on from his phone “Reminder List”. Eventually he allowed Jill a few minutes:

She comes across as “all over it”, “covering all bases” from the ground up, and, she’s generously confirmed to helping George resurrect our website, given ClubRunner software.

Not bad for a Hawthorn die hard.

Evelyn is ever ready to receive more requests to join the Trivia Night [August 11], and Ray Carrington has tickets for Silvie Paladino and the Welsh Choir, with supporting musicians [September 10]. {First in best dressed}.

Special thanks to the “We-Destruct-With-Care” team recycling Danny’s donation of shelving, bound for The Shed at Cal Gully. Members keen to use that cordless drill, and other gear, are very welcome Saturday morning [August 5] at Mechanics Institute Cal Gully, for the installation of said shelves.

Kick off at 9 AM and first smoko at 9:30.

George’s V 6.0 of our committee structure will go up to the board August 7, and once ratified I’ll circulate it for comment.

George, Adrian and Peter met with Catering Manager and Ronnie at 18eightyseven Monday:  Outcome: That venue is indeed “Vahland’s Treasure” to historians and architects, and Bendigo Kangan institute cannot emulate the fare and service at The Bridge Hotel. However, the institute can “run to” evening major events: Think: Christmas; Foundation in November; and, our thirty-year celebrations June 2018.

Tuesday Peter Rainey and George met with CoGB Councillor Jennifer Alden, at her request, to discuss Australia Day.

All good. We’ll take the conversations to Australia Day and Markets committees.

We’re not sure that George’s “inter active RCoBS Google Calendar” was a success. We’ve listed some dates below for diaries and calendars.

George’s theme is:

Youth and Local:

Do please get along to the NEXUS Bendigo Youth Theatre: [Years 7 – 12, in Bendigo] PHANTOM OF THE OPERA at The Capital.
