President's Message

Meeting Valentines Day 14th Feb
There’s a silver lining to Queen’s Baton Relay traffic gridlock:
I noticed folk parking their cars, off street, on the periphery of the CBD and walking into work.
A precedent?
It was heaven on the bike … Just me and the breeze.

RDU magazines have arrived in our letter boxes:
Proudly we’re on pages 49 & 50.

Our champion member of Patti’s Team, Ray Carrington acknowledged the generous expert contribution from Wayne Gregson, getting the article to publication.

And Patti reports to me that the Project grows and grows, way beyond her control.

Graeme Lynas, just home from Maubisse having consulted with Señor Luis, is advising us further on optimal bale-packing practices for the future.

Thanks to “Doakey” and Gary Jones for coming along to present the cheque as our slice of the Swap Meet Catering pie.
The figures, especially the cumulative totals of monies passed on to our communities is overwhelming.

Doug in the Chair introduced another “Good Bloke”, Darren Trewick, a long-time member of the Elmore Field Days Committee and a past President.

Jack Trewik, en route to the local “We remove the braces off your teeth” dentist was there to support Dad.  Jack is an up and coming modern, young, efficient Australian farmer, and member of EFD committee.

Would you believe Elmore Field Days [EFD] is more than fifty years of age?

Started down by the river by a few restless young farmers, trying to set up comparative displays of like equipment.

Now:

Committee of twenty seven
Executive of nine
Mature innovative succession practices within the committee

154 hectares [380 acres in the old language]
Seven plus three kilometres of underground utilities
Eleven kilometres of paved roads
Dams, dams and dams originally for irrigation pump exhibitors and latterly aesthetics and water supply.

Three full time in the office and a groundsman with a special good-news story.

Venue for
        Scouts Jamboree
        Major Equestrian Events
        Seventh Day Adventists Conferences
        MotorHome “Jamborees”
        And, more.

Elmore and friends muster almost five hundred volunteers to run the EFD

So, October 2,3 & 4 2018
Be there.

And, Doug has inspiring news from Bendigo Chinese Association:
Not only was Dragon Loong’s spectacular welcome to Museum Victoria for his official visit a television spectacle success, but also, plans are well under way for Loong’s successor.

Loong patiently awaits his attendants

Hot off the press
Missive from Barb this morning:

Hello Dear Friends,
Just a quick call for assistance to help raise some funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Some of you may know that I lost my husband Dowell to this dreadful disease August last year.

My daughter Georgia will be shaving her head on the 21st of March to raise funds via with the World’s Greatest Shave.
(This is Dowell's birthday)

She has a pretty ambitious target, and of course, she’s shaving her head! She’s half way to her target of $20k so any assistance you can offer would be awesome.

If you are keen to come down on the night, she’s also running a raffle with some pretty great prizes. She’ll be hosting the event at the Yarraville Club on the 21st of March at 6.30pm.
You can follow her progress on Instagram @g1ge

Please pass on to family and friends who may want to donate as well. Thanks everyone for any donation large or small, it all may help find a cure.

grateful hugs

The conference is in Warrnambool, a beautiful coastal town situated on the Prince’s Highway  south east of Melbourne and dating from the gold rush days of the 1850’s. It is a fabulous location and we hope you’ve had a look at the website to gain some idea of what’s in store;

We look forward to keeping you informed and to seeing you there.
