Vale     PP Barry Maloney

It is with much sadness that I share the news of the passing of PP Barry Moloney.

Barry passed away on the evening of 8th December 2017. Barry had recently had major heart issues and was taken to hospital on Wednesday and passed away on Thursday night.

Barry was a charter member of The Rotary Club of Bendigo Sandhurst and served as Club President
1993-1994.

Details of Barry’s funeral will be published when known.

What a busy time of the year !!
We’re all off to Sutton Grange Winery Sunday for our Christmas get together and Board Meeting Monday evening [5:30 for 5:45].

Great to see Alison and John from Rotary Club of Eaglehawk this week, spruiking the vigneron’s dream of ten bottles of Grange.
Only twenty dollars a ticket, when you join a syndicate of ten.

Multi-talented Doug not only chaired the meeting, but also was our guest speaker, taking us along with “Six in a Dodge Van” across the states and Canada, from music festival to Butchart Gardens, and thence to Timor-Leste and “People Roads” trudging around the hills of Maubisse, beyond the reach of “our” 4WD.
We don’t know what was on offer at the music festivals, but, all his videos “are on their side” … Travel Tip: $200 extra on United gets you real American imperial inches:
His finale was a positive report on the new dragon.

I did mention “our” 4WD in Maubisse, chatting to the Governor when she enquired after our major club projects.

A special mention this week of a quiet champion: John Harkin:
He who consistently rescues “Set Up” Members from the tangle of wires and leads, and “Control-Alt-Delete” not responding.

And, also special mention of John Langley:
Pres George arrived early to “fix” the new screen:
We could not extend the supporting pole:
Tried silicone spray, jiggling and swearing and then John gave it a good thump from below. Hey Presto !!!  Thanks John.

An enjoyable night at Weeroona College Awards:
See image of programme pages.

Christmas:  Peter Rainey and HINDSIGHT invite you to really get into the mood and turn up as a volunteer at the HINDSIGHT party at The Stadium December 13th.  Peter looking for six volunteers.

Board Positions 2018/2019
Horizons Committee will find a resolution to this challenge.

See you Sunday

George.

D9800 conference March 16-18, 2018

The conference is in Warrnambool, a beautiful coastal town situated on the Prince’s Highway  south east of Melbourne and dating from the gold rush days of the 1850’s. It is a fabulous location and we hope you’ve had a look at the website to gain some idea of what’s in store;

We look forward to keeping you informed and to seeing you there.
Regards,

PLEASE BE SURE TO NOTE THE EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION CUT OFF DATE OF NOVEMBER 30TH 2017.
