President's Message

Hope George is well on his way back to good health.

This mornings guest speaker Lisa Westphal from National Heart Foundation was a bit of a worry. One in three will have a heart condition between 50 and 74 years of age. That is our club. But what sent a real shiver down our spines was the suggestion we could replace a glass of red wine with beetroot! She spoke convincingly about Heart attacks and strokes and the need for early intervention. Ringing 000 and beginning CPR when required. The term that stuck with me when she was talking about ringing the ambulance was 'better embarrassed than deceased'

Maurice said, put 000 on your speed dial NOT him.

Announcements:    Doug Lougoon is organising a day at Heathcote Food and Wine Festival. Saturday the 7th of October as a fellowship day.

$30 a head, mini bus with driver supplied. Numbers to Doug at doug@douglougoon.com.au

Don't forget that the club meeting on Wednesday 11th October is cancelled and transfered to Thursday the 12th at the Father Ted Harte Centre White Hills 6pm for 6.30pm. PDG Greg Ross is an excellent guest speaker. All proceeds to the Australian Rotary Health Foundation.

Paul Kirkpatrick reported that Gary Gunnel Of RC Bendigo is organising another RAWCS trip to Samoa commencing 21st of October. Anyone interested please give Paul a ring.

Finally Graeme Lynas is running a painting workshop at 11 Powells Avenue at 8.30am this Saturday 23rd. The house is a recent acquisition for Dowell and Barb Mitchell. Sadly only Barb will me moving in.

It was pointed out to me today that our website had the wrong meeting location. This has been rectified and now shows the Bridge Hotel (for those that haven't been to our new location....)

'The Editor accepts full responsibility for what he thinks he heard spoken at this mornings meeting.'

Hopefully George will be back soon.

Late breaking news Cathie Miller would like to remind everyone that the next 4 F evening is on Thursday 28th Sept 6pm at the Belmont Hotel.

RSVP's to Cathie by Wednesday 27th.

Jokes
Two elderly gentlemen from a retirement centre were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says:
'Slim, I'm 83 years old now and I'm just full of aches and pains. I know you're about my age. How do you feel?'
Slim says, 'I feel just like a newborn baby.'
'Really!? Like a newborn baby!?'
'Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants.'
