Rotary at New Location!

President Chuck Clark welcomed Rotarians and guests to the weekly meeting of the Gallipolis Rotary Club now convening at the Gallipolis Municipal Building Conference Room.  The club moved to this downtown location this week and there is plenty of parking for Rotarians.  The City of Gallipolis has been very helpful is our relocating and we hope we will be able to continue meeting in this location for many years!
We had a good number today at our new location and let's all try to make the next meeting.  President Chuck will open the meeting now at 7 AM allowing time to wrap up business so members can arrive at work on time!  The conference room is perfect for our meetings and President-Elect K
evin Dennis will make sure the coffee is ready at 6:30 AM.  Members enjoyed the fresh fruit and breakfast casserole available today.
Banner Presentation--Rotarian Paul Koch vacationed at the Outer Banks last week and exchanged trading banners with the North Banks Rotary Club in Kitty Hawk.  Visiting out of town Rotary club is a fun experience and as a Rotarian, you will experience the friendship of Rotary.  Our club has a supply of banners to take, so be sure to plan a make up meeting when you can!
Club Fellowship--Kevin shared a couple of stories with us today and then Gordon took over with a little bit of historical trivia and a call for Happy Buck$.  PDG Mel Simon bought a Happy Buck as he and Lydia just returned from an amazing tour of France and Normandy Beach. We want to hear more about their impressions visiting this important place.  President-Nominee (soon to be VP), Charlene Smith, spent a buck to celebrate her new position with Arbors Extenacare Center in Gallipolis.  Congratulations, Charlene!
Split-The-Pot--Charlene Smith ran our STP for our meeting today collecting $20 in ticket sales and raised the small pot to $6.00 for today.  Charlene asked our speaker, Nancy Smith, to draw for the winner which was President-Elect Kevin!  Kevin asked the winnings be donated back to the club's Foundation Fund.  In the draw for the Large Pot which is just starting over and is currently at $13.00, Kevin pulled the Ace of Hearts, just missing out! The Pot is safe for another week! Kevin assessed the Foundation Fine against anyone who didn't make the Rotary coffee this morning!  Good one!
Program--Rotarians welcomed our speaker, Nancy Smith, who provided an update on the growing Gallia Snack Pack program.  This program now serves over 600 families in Gallia County during the regular school year in an effort to assist hungry students with food to last through the weekends. This year the program has moved into the Gallia Middle School where need was identified.  In 2014, Snack Pack will help kids at the high school level. Nancy pointed out the greatest need is the K-6 grade population.  The program has grow every year thanks to the generosity of businesses and groups like Rotary.  Child hunger and neglect is a serious problem and Snack Pack is meeting a local need in a very big way.  Gallipolis Rotary is proud to help Gallia Snack Pack.
