ImageImageA large group of Sunrise Rotary members, spouses, Youth Exchange students and other guests celebrated the Christmas season at a fun-filled event at St. Eugene Resort on Sunday, Dec. 15. The event, which was organized by Helen Boon and Lorinda Nelson, featured a fine meal, music and dancing, a soon-to-be-traditional reading of original poetry by President Mark, a necktie competition, and other miscellaneous happenings. Music and many toasts to the festive season were supplied by the East-West Connections band.

During the evening's activities, Arlene Schroh presented Youth Exchange student Shauni with a large quilt which was then passed around the room to be signed by the many friends that Shauni has made during her exchange year in Cranbrook.

Mid-way through the evening, a necktie competition among the many men decked out in their Christmas best, led to JayImage Nelson taking the trophy based on the judgment of a panel of youthful experts. Some felt, though, that the panel was unduly influenced by the somewhat questionable addition of sound capabilities to the winning tie.

A great evening for all. Our thanks to the organizers and to all who attended.
