As previously announced our club is participating in the Chama Valley Rotary Club’s day of fun and fellowship featuring an excursion on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.  A day in the mountains aboard this historic steam train out of Chama makes for splendid outing, and to top it off the Chama club and the railroad have arranged for a 20% discount on all tickets for Rotarians.  All you need do is call the railroad directly at 888-286-2737 and ask for the "20% off Rotary discount on Ride #6."  With the discount the tickets are only $76 in coach class, $111.20 in tourist class, and $179 in parlor class.

Best to leave Santa Fe by 7 am Saturday morning to arrive at the Chama Depot well before departure time of 10 am.  The train then climbs into the high mountains through spectacular scenery, arriving at Osier, Colo, for a hot lunch, before returning to Chama by 4:10 that afternoon.  The excursion is followed by a Rotary social hour at 6:00 pm (BYOB).

If there is sufficient interest the Fun Committee is also considering hiring vans for the drive up and back.  So please, make your reservations as soon as possible with the railroad and let Dick Cowles know at rcowles2@comcast.net (or 986-1814) if you would prefer the van option.
