October is designated by Rotary as Vocational Service Month.

Vocational Service focuses on:

  • Adhering to and promoting the highest ethical standards in all occupations
  • Recognizing the value of all useful occupations, not just those that are pursued by Rotarians
  • Contributing one's vocational talents to meeting the needs of the community

This is a time when all Rotarians give special thought to how they can best promote the goals and ideals of Rotary through their vocations.

In 1927 Rotary founder, Paul Harris, spoke to topic of vocational service.

"No prospect is more alluring than that held out by the exaltation of one's vocation as the most available and appropriate means of contributing to social needs."
