Bill Warner promises to be back to flip more pancakes.
Did you miss seeing "Fantastic Flipper" Bill Warner at this year's Pancakes on the Plaza? He is recovering from a brief problem that kept him at home, but promises to be back next year. Our Club recognized his more than 25 years of service with a specially engraved spatula presented at his home this week.
Ten thousand plates were filled with pancakes, ham, strawberries and syrup this July 4. Thousands more also enjoyed the entertainment, arts and crafts and other vendors and a car show that stretched up Lincoln Avenue almost to the Courthouse. This year we had $97,500 in sponsorships pledged and collected by July 3. Dare we hope that late contributions reached $100,000? Next year will be the 40th Pancakes on the Plaza and we appreciate the community support of hundreds of volunteers that make it possible to support over two dozen deserving community non-profit groups.
