(narrated by Samuel Sewagudde) During the Rotary year 2015/2016, in which PP Patrick Lassu was President, the Service Projects committee developed an idea to take on new and exciting projects for the club. Members were called upon to mention places that needed humanitarian service based on the six areas that Rotary focuses on. Makokwa village in Kabulasoke Sub County, located in Gomba district; which is also my home town, happened to be one of the places that was identified with need for intervention. Through the needs assessment that was carried out by the club, it was determined that the key areas that urgently needed support in Kabulasoke were Health services, education and access to water and sanitation hence commencing on the project. Kampala South decided to start with intervention via health services and during that year, so we hit the ground running and conducted two health camps in Kabulasoke during that year, held in April and November. Among the health services that were extended were the general medical checks, dental services, treatment for common ailments, eye treatment, STI treatment, HIV &AIDs. HOW KABULASOKE BECAME A BUDDY GROUP In the Rotary year 2016/2017, in which PP Geoffrey Kitakule was President, there was a suggestion by members of the club to change buddy group names so as to increase vigor and participation among the members. |
