The Rotary Cancer is a brain child of PDG Steven Mwanje and was launched in 2012. The Cancer Run Campaign won an award in the PRAU Excellence Awards 2017 in the category of the Best PR Not for Profit campaign. It’s an annual Social Responsibility Program for Rotary in Uganda.  Every year it gets bigger and better with more corporate partners and runners. The annual Rotary Cancer run is a fundraising event geared at supporting Uganda Cancer program. The goal of the Rotary Cancer Run 2018 is to raise funds for the construction of a bunker for the Linear Accelerator at the Rotary Centenary Bank Cancer Ward in Nsambya Hospital.

The Rotary cancer run was largely about family. Fathers, mothers, children and relatives tagged their little ones along as they all ran for cancer 2018. It was a very fulfilling moment as Rotary gives back to the less fortunate suffering from cancer.  The Rotary Club of Kampala South members completed their race, rested and had fun at the Rotary Club of Kampala South Kololo Airstrip tent. Lots of feasting on “Katogo” and socializing was experienced. It was a worthwhile and successfully event with lots of funds raise towards a good cause CANCER”.
