What the heck is ClubRunner? And why does Darcy keep telling me to use it?

It's a webpage, it's a file cabinet, it's a scrapbook, it's a directory. ClubRunner is the online club management software we pay for each year to help us keep everything (and everyone!) organized. But sometimes it's slow and cumbersome. You have to login to take advantage of its features, and then you'll probably have to take an evening to play around to figure out what it's capable of.

My goal is to get us all using ClubRunner. Here's why:

Our club leadership changes from year to year, and a year is not a lot of time to figure things out. We certainly don't want to start from scratch when we inherit the reins from someone else, but all of us are used to different systems, methods and formats of communicating, sharing and storing information. ClubRunner let's us put it all in one place. It's easy to find, integrated with Rotary International for automatic reporting on things like membership and attendance, and everyone takes responsibility for updating their own information, versus having a secretary chasing folks around for their current e-mail or phone number.

Our website, www.fmpmrotary.org, is hosted on ClubRunner. To update the website, we log in to Club Runner. "Widgets", or little pre-made components like calendars or links, allow someone to load information in just one online form, and it will populate across the website, our bulletin newsletter or an e-mail blast.

When you become a member of our club, a login is created for you with basic permission to update your profile information, e-mail everyone in the club and perform basic functions related to any position in the club you may hold.

Log in at the top right hand side of our website. If you've forgotten your login, ask Darcy. I'm looking for a ClubRunner administrator, but until I identify that person, Darcy our secretary is the go-to gal. Click on Member Area. Then under "MyClubRunner" click on the first link, "Update My Profile." Then update your profile with a photo and information about yourself.

About once a year we have ClubRunner training. Expect more ClubRunner lessons to come!

Congratulations! Now you know what the heck ClubRunner is! Won't Darcy be proud?
