Our speaker this week is Kristy Corah, nutritionist/dietitian in Granite Bay. America is the sickest, fattest country in the world. 70% of us will die from chronic disease which is highly preventable through diet and lifestyle modifications. Learn how a nutrient-rich whole food diet can improve your health.
Next Tuesday Feb 5 at 6:30PM Howard Dutra is hosting a meeting at his house to discuss potential Rotaract clubs at Sierra College and William Jessup, as well as a possible Interact Club at Granite Bay High School. Please join us!
All eyes are on our annual Crab Feed, now just 2 weeks away! Thank you Tom Gibbs for overseeing this event. It is a huge job and we appreciate your taking the lead.
Crab Feed Feb 16
Please visit the crab feed event link on our Facebook page and click on the button that says "Going". It's an easy way to spread the word about our only fundraiser of the year. Today I sold tickets to someone who found us through Facebook, an indication that our social media efforts are starting to pay off. You can really help amplify awareness of Rotary in the community!
Al Savery needs to know if you have any leftover tickets that you won't be able to sell. There has been a request for additional tickets so please let Al know if you have extras. He also reminds us to sell those raffle tickets!
Our sponsors this year are Roseville Automall, Jack May Family, and Tri Counties Bank. If you know of any other sponsors please send them to Jack. Thank you Jack for your generosity!
Dennis May has donated a week at his Tahoe cabin, for the silent auction. Thank you Dennis for your generosity!
Many thanks to Erika Halwachs for organizing the silent auction. Please let her know if you can bring in any donated items, as we are running low on donations. Remember to ask any restaurants, stores, or businesses you frequent to pitch in a gift card or retail item.
Crab Feed ads to be published in the programmes cost just $50, not $250 as I erroneously stated in a prior eBulletin. Please let Jim Lane know if anyone would like to get their business card into the programme.
Speaker Recap
Last week's speaker was Motorcycle Bob, a truly inspirational Rotarian who has dedicated his life to the fight against polio. He has logged more than a million miles on his motorcycle, riding across the country to spread awareness of polio. He has also traveled internationally to help vaccinate kids in developing countries against polio. Did you know that with the Bill Gates Foundation double-match, every donation to Polio Plus gets tripled? Now is a great time to give! Bob explained that the cost of polio vaccines has increased dramatically, from about $0.09 per vaccine to a dollar per vaccine, so the additional funding is both necessary and greatly appreciated. Thank you Jim Gragg for bringing Mike Mutchler to our club.
