Penny May hosted a lovely birthday party for Akila on Wednesday night. The sun peeked out occasionally to make Penny's deck the place to be. Akila had her favorite Kentucky Fried Chicken, and the guests supplied lots of great side dishes. I think Kevin picked out fresh corn that was pure sugar and delicious. Akila got to learn how to shuck corn and enjoy the rewards. After dinner we sang Happy Birthday, and Akila made a wish and blew out the candles on her cake, the custom decoration on her cake was her own art work, and she was so surprised and excited to see how beautiful it looked. Akila was very touched by all her birthday cards and gifts. She will put them to good use when she departs June 9 on the West Coast Tour. If you are free between now and then invite Akila out. She would love to spend time with club members, it doesn't have to be anything special, bake cookies, or watch a move, or go fishing, go for a hike along Blueberry trail to enjoy the view of Anchorage. She will give a presentation to her home club upon return to Indonesia, tit would be great if she had photos with all our club members to share at home. She is living with President Ben and his family, and has a pretty open schedule, just call or text to set up a time to get together.
