31 Rotarians and guests joined us last Friday on Zoom.  Guests included Jody Olsen, Jane Pallister and from UAA John Tichotsky, Alexander James and Jonathan Alevy.  Our speaker, Russell Reid joined early and explained his Zoom background picture as being of Denali taken from “one of those precarious little planes” and thusly destroying any Alaskan cred he might have had.  Our meeting was conducted by Immediate Past President Angie Rush.  President Art Clark was missing without explanation. Presider Angie brought the meeting to order promptly at noon.

Bruce Erickson offered thoughts for the day from Thomas Jefferson.  He reminded us that Jefferson was 33 years old when he assumed the presidency.  Jefferson quotes offered were, “In matters of style swim with the current, in matters of principal stand like a rock” and “Ours is not a democracy it is instead a democracy of those who participate.”

Comments were made about Boyd Morgenthaler’s classy looking yellow rain suit.  He explained that the picture was taken at an abandoned mine on the Kenai Peninsula that he later learned has deteriorated, leaking dynamite in the shaft.  Just as well the entrance was blocked.  Happy bucks were proffered by Debra Mason in thanks for Janine Becka’s distributing Happy buck invoices.  Nelson Defendorf had $3 in relief that his kid (grandkid?) has quickly found employment.  Jonathan Tarrant has one dollar in relief that it is just one month until the arrival of the baby Tarrant #3. Baby is due November 3.  Rick Goodfellow offers $5 hoping volunteers for our continuing club project to clean-up Wisconsin Drive (Editor's note:  Volunteers meet at 10:00am this Saturday for the clean-up).

The Trueblood’s, Tim and Ted, had $5 for a successful hunt on the Denali Highway in every respect other than shooting anything.  Mark Cosby offers $5 as he has a nearby kid to play with Nelson Defendorf’s grandchild keeping both kids happy. Sheri Showalter had charming daughter Luci as a guest.
