Ed Ulman is the President & CEO for Alaska Public Media. Ed is a fellow, longtime Rotarian and is a current member of the Downtown Club. 
 
Over the last three years, Ed has energized the staff, the board and the community with a new perspective on the key role public broadcasting plays in Alaska as Alaska’s locally owned and operated storyteller. Alaska Public Media is committed to amplifying and giving voice to the concerns and interests of our community. 
 
Ed has enjoyed a long career in public broadcasting. He started as volunteer on-air fundraising talent in Tucson, Arizona. He became the Education and Outreach Manager for New Mexico PBS where he led teams that earned a National Educational Television Award in 2007 for Take One Step: A Women’s Health Initiative and a PBS Development Award for KNME Science Central in 2008. 
 
Prior to coming to Anchorage Ed served in variety of roles for over seven years at KBTC Public Television in Tacoma, WA where he eventually won a national search as their Executive Director and General Manager. 
 
Ed is also a talented jazz musician and trombonist. Before working in public broadcasting, Ed’s early career saw him at the helm of the New Mexico Jazz Workshop. He currently performs as Lead Trombonist with the Anchorage Jazz Ensemble. He also hosted a bi-weekly jazz show, Saturday evenings on KSKA, and volunteered with the jazz band at Romig Middle School last year. 
 
Ed and his wife Peggy have two sons, Evan -- a senior at University of Washington in Seattle, and Andrew -- a freshman at South High School.
