Club Banner

It is a feature of clubs world-wide to have their own distinctive banner. The Rotary Club of Belconnen is no different. It features a stylised image of the then and now most prominent feature of our region, the Telecommunications Tower on Black Mountain. It should also be recalled that the region of Belconnen only started to develop and become populated in 1967 with the club holding its first interest meeting in December 1970.

It has also been a common practice that when members travel, either interstate or overseas, to take banners with them. Should the opportunity arise in which they attend meetings of other Rotary Clubs, then a swap of banners often occurs when they introduce themself to the other club. Upon return home, they then present these banners to our club, continuing to grow our collection.

Our club banner has undergone a number of changes over the past 40 years. At the time of our charter, we were known as the Rotary Club of Canberra-Belconnen, keeping with naming customs of that era. Later we removed the word "Canberra" to better reflect our own autonomy.
