Charter Members

The first interest meeting, as described at the time (right), led to the formation of today's Rotary Club of Belconnen. Whilst the Charter was dated February 11th 1971, it was not formally presented until later. This function was held on April 17th 1971 and to this day, the club recognises the occurrence by holding a special event on the meeting date closest to this Anniversary.

Charter members were: Brian Daniell (President), Pat Walsh (Secretary), Bill Simmington (Treasurer), Roy Barnes, Fyfe Bygrave, Ron Cooper, John DePlater, Jim Donaldson, Ed Dukes, John Faux, Les Heaton, John Lott, Russ Mears, Ron Morrison (father of the Club's Trash 'n' Treasure Market), Don Munroe, Alex Norquay, Jack Peters, Jack Ripley, John Scutt and Bob Smethills.
