Event: 11may18 TOPIC: Look Beyond The Page BIO: Michael Gonzalez has been writing for over 25 years. Like most writers, he struggled in the beginning, until he realized he needed to Look Beyond The Page. This realization, coupled with being mentored by Robert McKee (Story) for two years and then co-writing a screenplay with him and co-writing a screenplay with Ted Post, who directed Clint Eastwood in Hang ‘Em High and Magnum Force, changed his life. Michael has written several screenplays and books, has screen credit, traveled the world researching projects, and a screenplay that made it to the top 20 in the PAGE International Screen Writing Awards. Michael’s strength is coaching writer’s to rewire their brain and look beyond the page. Michael’s book, Look Beyond The Page , will be completed shortly. === |

Her book is: “Flying without a Helicopter: How to Prepare Young People for Work and Life.” She’s writing a second one on connecting the generations that should be out this year. She gives keynote speeches at companies and schools and runs the consulting firm Flexible Work Solutions, Inc. She has a PhD from UC Berkeley and a BA from Harvard.

He was Del Mar city attorney from 1977-83 and served on Board of Solana Beach Elementary School District. He also served on the California Coastal Commission as a governor appointee. He was elected to Del Mar city council in 2014, and is up for re-election this year. Currently serving as Mayor of Del Mar and actively involved in Short Term Rentals, Sea Level Rise, and other pending issues. |

He recently retired as Chairman and CEO of one of Australia’s largest commercial real estate companies. Prior to living in Sydney, he was CEO or President of several US based real estate companies and worked overseas with Morgan Stanley for several years advising on their real estate investments. His latest book, Saving Investa, how an ex-factory worker helped save one of Australia’s iconic companies, was published last year and his next book, Think like a Dog, how dogs teach us to be happy in life and successful at work, is due to be published later in 2018. The new book was co-authored by his rescue dog, Sadie, and himself. |

In his tenure, camp attendance has increased from 10,000 to 26,000 children and families annually. The three YMCA camps, Marston, Raintree Ranch and Camp Surf have seen over $10M in capital improvements in the past 15 years. Tom is a proud Penn State Nittany Lion and is a certified YMCA Organizational Leader. He and his wife Dobbie live at YMCA Raintree Ranch in Julian.

She earned her degree in International Studies and Political Science from Point Loma Nazarene, and focuses on international human rights issues, specifically forms of oppression against women, all around the globe. She's traveled to 10 countries and has worked with many different non-profit organizations in Asia, Africa, and here in San Diego - all focusing on sex trafficking rehabilitation. She has been working with GenerateHope for a year and a half and is excited about the powerful work being done in her local community.

EVENT: 24aug18 TOPIC: Lithium Ion Battery development and applications at General Atomics BIO: Dr. Aaron Sathrum - Dr. Sathrum joined General Atomics (GA) as an engineer in September 2011. His current interests include energy storage, fuel cells, renewable energy, and microgrid technology to enable paradigm shifts in our energy production and consumption. Dr. Sathrum came to GA from UC San Diego (UCSD) where he conducted research on carbon dioxide electrocatalysis and conversion into useful products. Prior to his work at UCSD he worked on failure analysis of military electronics at China Lake Naval Weapon Station. A California native, he hails from Eureka CA and enjoys traveling, music, and sports. He led the first new community solar hot water project in CA under the CSI rebate program, for Mission Heights HOA in 2010. He holds a BS in Material Science and Electrical Engineering from UC Davis in 2002. Under a Jacobs Fellowship, he completed a MS and PhD in Materials Science Engineering from UC San Diego in 2006 and 2011 respectively. |

George joins his daughter Dina Reh, Founder of the organization, in organizing and launching Club-ABLE. George is a retired DuPont executive with over 25 years of corporate management experience. As a corporate development director in Healthcare and Bio-technology, George was responsible for searching out new business opportunities for the DuPont Corporation. He had managed among others, diagnostic imaging businesses and clinical diagnostic business of the corporation. After retiring from DuPont, he assisted several small start-up enterprises in the diagnostic and medical imaging fields. Mr. Reh is an entrepreneur with a successful track record. He currently is General Manager of the family business started by his wife Josephina Reh called Dutch Touch, Inc, in business for 18 years and providing services such as house-keeping, handyman services, and landscaping. |

BIO: Don Collins grew up in metro Detroit and graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, CA after completing a degree in Mathematics and receiving his commission as Air Force Officer in 1989. He worked as a Public Relations Officer during the first Gulf War where he received a Commendation medal for his work with the national and international media in the Middle East. Don worked in sales, fitness, construction and ran a halfway house downtown before returning to get his teaching credential from CSU San Marcos in 1996. Don has California state credentials and experience as an instructor in math, English and technology, a Masters in Educational Administration, and a Masters of Science in Educational Technology. He is a Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher (2002) and was awarded Teacher of the Year at both Sunset High School (2003-04) and at Torrey Pines High School (2014-15). From 2005 to 2008 he was a National Director for the Center for Teacher Effectiveness where he works as a trainer for improving classroom management strategies. He is currently on the Board of Directors for Directing Change, a statewide film contest for high school students to create one-minute PSA’s on suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Don is in his 21st year of teaching in the San Dieguito District and his 8th at Torrey Pines High School where he is the Peer Assistance Leadership Support Adviser, as well as the teacher for a pilot course called Academic Success & Survival. Don was also selected by the San Dieguito Union High School District to create and run the Sanford Inspire Program in partnership with National University to train teachers to be inspirational. He and his husband Anthony are excited to welcome the birth of their twin sons, Floyd and Stanley, next month. |

EVENT: 05oct18 (was originally 06jul18) TOPIC: Vets helping our Homeless Veterans BIO: Kalani Creutzburg & Nate Schoemer of Cammies & Canines Kalani Creutzburg is a Marine Major. After returning from deployment in 2015 he was homeless and lost custody of his dogs. Because of his experience with homelessness he is now on a mission to help other homeless veterans transition off the streets and find healing through a canine's companionship. He founded Cammies & Canines 2 years ago and has since then been highlighted on ABC news twice and was a Small Business Award finalist with San Diego's Chamber of Commerce. Nate Schoemer is also a Marine veteran. He was a Drill Instructor who's now a celebrity dog trainer on Animal Planet "Rescue Dog to Super Dog". While Kalani drives the homeless outreach efforts Nate is busy running the dog side of Cammies & Canines. Tony Gallardo, is Vice President and manages operations at Cammies & Canines! |

Chuck started his career as a dishwasher at 13 and rose to Executive Chef and Restaurant General Manager in his late twenties. He has owned award-winning restaurants, a catering company, been a Hospitality Consultant to top San Diego restaurants, and served as the Senior Manager for Food Services at Stone Brewing Company.

Bio - Cindy Grossman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the Executive Director of Kids' Turn San Diego, a caring non-profit organization that has been creating brighter futures for children experiencing family separation and divorce since 1996. Cindy earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from SDSU and maintains a current License in Clinical Social Work. She has over 20 years of administrative experience and provided therapy to children for over 12 years. Cindy joined the team at Kids' Turn San Diego in 2013 and services have significantly expanded under her leadership. Having been a child of divorce and currently a parent of a 18 year old daughter, Cindy offers a unique blend of personal experience and professional expertise and is dedicated to helping others transform their families during challenging times.
