Starting as an instructor at the Learning Academy, he has since worked and led many programs and initiatives at TERI, leaving an indelible mark on each one. Greg has weaved his passion for artistic expression into launching art, music, theater, and yoga programs at TERI. Greg’s belief in Collective Impact is evident in his work with legacy planning and his passion and involvement in helping the community to connect with people with special needs. “When not working I enjoy: community projects, yoga, musical performance, outdoor activities, and family life.” Matthew Anderson: Matthew started his career with TERI in 2014 at The Learning Academy, one of TERI’s Non-Public Schools. After a few years working in direct programming and behavioral support services, he chose to pursue an opportunity working in development. Matthew has a deep passion for serving individuals with special needs and their families, and looks forward to the completion of TERI’s Campus of Life! Matthew holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Concordia University Chicago and is an IALQ certified Special Needs Life Quality Coach. “When not working I enjoy: camping, volunteering at church, hiking, traveling with my wife, playing music, and a good cup of tea!” |

BIOs: Mr. Everard Meade & Ms. Necla Tschirji Ev Meade is Director of the Trans-Border Institute at the University of San Diego, where he leads certificate programs in peacebuilding and human rights in the areas of Mexico most affected by the drug war, and directs the Trans-Border Opportunities Certificate Program, a field-based introduction to the politics, places, people, and products that define the U.S.-Mexico border. Before coming to USD in 2014, Dr. Meade was a professor in the History Department and co-founder of the Human Rights Program at UC San Diego. Dr. Meade served as an expert witness in immigration courts across the country, in dozens of asylum cases involving Mexican nationals fleeing the current wave of violence. He regularly briefs U.S. law enforcement and foreign service officers on country conditions in Mexico and he is a frequent Op-Ed contributor on related issues. Necla Tschirgi is Professor of Human Security and Peacebuilding at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego where her research focuses on conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Previously, she served as Senior Policy Advisor with the UN Peacebuilding Support Office in New York and Vice President of the International Peace Academy, where she led IPA’s Security-Development Nexus research program. A native of Turkey, Dr. Tschirgi received her B.A. and M.A. in political science at the American University of Beirut and her Ph.D. in political economy at the University of Toronto.

BIO: William (Bill) Lawrence has served as Executive Director of the San Diego History Center since February 2016 after joining the History Center in July 2015 as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining the History Center Bill’s professional career spanned three decades with the KFMB Stations (KFMB-TV, AM & FM), providing a “front row seat” to the history being made in our region. For more than a decade Bill was also an adjunct faculty member of Southwestern Community College having taught broadcast writing, photography and production. Bill has long been interested in San Diego history and has served on the boards of a number of local planning and historic preservation groups. He is the creator of BorregoModern.com, dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of the mid-century modern architecture of Borrego Springs, San Diego’s County’s desert resort.
He and his wife Suzanne reside in both San Diego and Borrego Springs.

Julie oversees BFI's programming, funding and implementation of projects. Her love for Burundi grew in 2011 when she taught English at Light University. With no resources except a blackboard and a piece of chalk, Julie taught English Communication to 70 college students for 4 hours each day and since then, her passion to create more opportunities for Burundians hasn't stopped. Julie's other career is as a musician having played at local churches for the past 20 years.

He started his career as a county program director for substance abuse services. He was a catalyst in opening the first substance abuse treatment program in Western Michigan. Transitioning into the high tech area he spent 30 years with leading edge companies that were ground breakers in the personal computer space. But now he has come full circle, founding Confidential Recovery a substance abuse treatment facility for working adults who require a high level of confidentiality for their treatment. He will share with us the status of the current national opioid crisis and its impact in San Diego. |

Making Compassion a Verb and a Movement BIO: Sara Schairer is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit Compassion It whose mission is to inspire compassionate actions and attitudes. Sara is a Stanford-certified compassion facilitator and leads trainings globally for people of all ages and backgrounds, including inmates, business leaders, students, educators, and healthcare providers. She was a contributing author to the book "The Neuroscience of Learning and Development" and also writes for The Chopra Center. Interesting fact: I was the female vocalist in a local indie band that broke up in 2015.

Like most writers, he struggled in the beginning, until he realized he needed to Look Beyond The Page. This realization, coupled with being mentored by Robert McKee (Story) for two years and then co-writing a screenplay with him and co-writing a screenplay with Ted Post, who directed Clint Eastwood in Hang ‘Em High and Magnum Force, changed his life. Michael has written several screenplays and books, has screen credit, traveled the world researching projects, and a screenplay that made it to the top 20 in the PAGE International Screen Writing Awards. Michael’s strength is coaching writer’s to rewire their brain and look beyond the page. Michael’s book, Look Beyond The Page , will be completed shortly. === |

His latest book, Saving Investa, how an ex-factory worker helped save one of Australia’s iconic companies, was published last year and his next book, Think like a Dog, how dogs teach us to be happy in life and successful at work, is due to be published later in 2018. The new book was co-authored by his rescue dog, Sadie, and himself. |

She's traveled to 10 countries and has worked with many different non-profit organizations in Asia, Africa, and here in San Diego - all focusing on sex trafficking rehabilitation. She has been working with GenerateHope for a year and a half and is excited about the powerful work being done in her local community.

His current interests include energy storage, fuel cells, renewable energy, and microgrid technology to enable paradigm shifts in our energy production and consumption. Dr. Sathrum came to GA from UC San Diego (UCSD) where he conducted research on carbon dioxide electrocatalysis and conversion into useful products. Prior to his work at UCSD he worked on failure analysis of military electronics at China Lake Naval Weapon Station. A California native, he hails from Eureka CA and enjoys traveling, music, and sports. He led the first new community solar hot water project in CA under the CSI rebate program, for Mission Heights HOA in 2010. He holds a BS in Material Science and Electrical Engineering from UC Davis in 2002. Under a Jacobs Fellowship, he completed a MS and PhD in Materials Science Engineering from UC San Diego in 2006 and 2011 respectively. |

After retiring from DuPont, he assisted several small start-up enterprises in the diagnostic and medical imaging fields. Mr. Reh is an entrepreneur with a successful track record.
